Why doesn't Trump's childishness simply disqualify him outright in your mind?

To be fair, I was not really chastising TL’s statement, more just pointing out the hypocrisy of those she was describing.

Is that really the most efficient way of moving sensitive information? Do you think that there may ever be a situation where information needs to be transmitted in under 2 weeks?

Actually, I do like this idea now.

When Trump gets butt hurt and orders a military strike, it’ll take 2 weeks before the military gets its orders, another few before they are relayed to generals and lower, and another few before the actual troops get the message to deploy.

So, yes, this is a great idea, and we should encourage trump to do all correspondence by courier from now on.

No, the concept itself was the idea of the white house or other govt agencies to use courier services as their primary or only means of communication.

Hey, don’t lose my whole point in that dismissive way. Work with me here.

Do I have to say that Trump’s offenses were already largely in line with the thinking of the “deplorables”? Obama was (and is) a cool intellectual, not to mention an “uppity black man” who dared to step out of his place by going to Harvard. They would never have gotten behind him, no matter what, and y’all know that, so your criticism is beside the point.

My point is (and, no, it can’t be universally applied across all of history) is that in Trump World, now that Trump has won, HIS PEOPLE don’t care about his offenses. These people bow down to authority, the authority of the winner, in a way that lefties never have and never will do. Winning makes you the authority. They want to be on the winning team.

I believe their primary objective is to deliver documents in a safe and secure manner.

It’s been proven that computers, WAN, LAN, landlines, and wireless connections can be compromised. Everyone has their own priorities. Speed over security. Security over speed.

WikiLeaks hasn’t hacked a courier service yet.

I used to drive for a same-day courier service so I actually do have some idea of what it requires in terms of manpower to cover the demand.

As an example, to meet the service commitments in the SF Bay Area, 600-700 pkgs a day required 50-60 drivers.

I’m willing to bet that sensitive emails from the White House and Congress alone would swamp any system.

Too bad you weren’t chastising the efficiency of the courier program. You called the entire concept of couriering secret documents stupid.

Let me know what they say when you call them up and call their entire program stupid and inefficient.

I’m willing to bet that too. However, I wouldn’t call the concept of couriering secret documents stupid.

It’s almost as if **k9bfriender **hadn’t heard of the DCS, or DCD as it is known now, and is frantically trying to change his opinion of the intelligence of couriering secret documents.

I’ll share the credit for Hillary not being in a position to appoint another anti-2nd, gun-grabbing Supreme Court Justice.

I don’t see a gleeful bandwagon jumping going on; just that he’s doing what he always has, and nobody really ever expected him to do any different- we DID elect him after all, so there’s no big push to lean on him to suddenly start acting presidential.

A collective taking of our lumps, as it were. Few people really think that Trump talking to the Taiwanese president was a good thing; at best people like the idea of him thumbing his nose at China a little bit, even if it’s upsetting to the status quo.

Personally, I think that’s going to be the biggest impact- Trump IS a loose cannon of sorts. When was the last time a President called out his own party like he did the other day w.r.t. that ethics watchdog business?

If it would swamp the system, then why is it not stupid?
There’s also the factor that each driver will need a clearance to transport these documents.
How long does it take to issue a clearance? What happens if turnover (which is high in this industry) outpaces hiring and background investigations?

ETA: Will this require armored vehicles? Will the drivers be required to be armed? Will Trump pay more than minimum wage?

It all comes down to guns. I have nothing against gun ownership (I’m thinking of buying one myself) but on a list of important issues facing our government, I’d put it below the top 100. Of all the issues facing the Supreme Court over the next 20 years, I’d also put “gun rights” pretty far down the list. You might see some minor changes around the edges, but I am pretty sure that regardless of who is in the White House, Congress, or the Supreme Court, gun “rights” now and 20 years from now will be essentially the same.

How many guns were grabbed during Obama’s terms? Or was he actually a boon to gun manufacturers and sellers?

Hey, buddy, read for context. We were talking about a specific case. Then we replied about a specific case. Then you jumped in and accused me of talking about the general case.

Was I talking universally about couriering documents being a bad idea? No.

I have couriered documents myself, when I needed to get some paperwork to the bank or my cpa, and didn’t feel like driving across town with them.

The specific point here, is that trump says that if you want to sent classified info, it must be done by courier. That’s stupid. You can defend it all you want. You can try to imply I said something that I didn’t, but you are simply wrong on this. I was referring specifically to one instance of a person indicating that they would use a courier service for something that it would not be useful for.

Well, now that you mention it, I had not had any need of using the DCS or the DCD in my personal life, so I had not really heard of them myself. I have heard of numerous courier services, and I was actually thinking that those would be the ones that trump would be using, as they usually have a few hours turn around at most, as opposed to a few weeks.

I am pretty sure you just heard of them yourself, what with your furious backpedaling about the length of time it takes for them to move documents about. I suppose you were not aware of the fact that much of what the DCD carriers is actually cargo and freight type of stuff, not just documents. I don’t know if the info is publicly available, but I would expect that the non-document part of their shipping to be the greater portion.

But, since you seem to think it is a great idea, when do you think it would be useful to use a courier service that takes 2 weeks to deliver a document within the continental US?

No, that’s a distortion of what was said.

Here is the statement: “You know, if you have something really important, write it out and have it delivered by courier, the old-fashioned way. Because I’ll tell you what: No computer is safe.”

Again, you really have to be a dedicated Trump hater to object to this statement or to think that Trump said that “if you want to sent **classified **info, it **must **be done by courier”.

(post shortened)

You could send it via the Pinocchio Pelosi’s Special Snowflake Air Service? She’s always flitting back and forth between DC and Frisco, isn’t she? Plus, she might already have the handcuffs and leather pouch that would be required.

I was being specific for manson over there.

I am not sure how there is distortion between my paraphrase of " to sent[d] classified info, it must be done by courier." and trump’s statement. Trump’s statement is really a command. Could ya show me the daylight there?

Also, I am pretty sure you were just arguing that Trump did not mean that literally, and instead meant that… well, I am not sure that you ever did give your interpretation of trump’s poetic treatise on security.

I will ask you directly. If you were following Trump’s idea to the best of your ability, and you needed to send a document to another person in govt, how would you do so?

A command to whom? And why do you think he was talking about “classified” info specifically? Almost all (in fact, I think, all) of the emails released by Wikileaks were not classified. But some of them were important, and quite a few were embarrassing.

I would use the government encrypted system, or use some of the commercial encryption systems. With the caveat (as Trump said) that I am compromising some measure of security by doing so.

Please provide to me your understanding of “really important information” and “classified information”. When would you use a computer and when would you use a courier? Explain your reasoning.

But, “No computer is safe.”

That is one hell of a stupid and pointless post.
