Y’know all that spam you get that offers “Oxycotin! V1codin! V1agra”?
I’ve been getting a bunch of that that’s offering “Klonop1n” (brand name Clonazepan) as it’s headliner drug.
WHY?
Oxycotin/Vicodin/Percoset get you high…I get that. I’ve had klonopin (I was having some sleep-related issues–I kept waking up like 3 hours after I went to sleep, regardless of when I went to sleep) and…it makes you sleep. It’s more effective than sominex (or it was for me).
It doesn’t get you high (It knocked me out and left me with one hell of a…hangover…the next day, so we switched to a different one after about a week which worked much better), it just makes you sleep. And there are better drugs (at least for me) for that.
So…why the big interest in it? Does it get some people high? Or is there a big “untreated insomnia” epidemic?
Note: I’m not looking to get any, I’m not promoting illegal/recreational use–I just want to know why it’s apparently more popular (at least in my e-mail spam) than V1AGRA! or V1COD1N!!! all of a sudden.
Clonazepan is a benzodiazepine, so abusers are likely to use it for the same reasons as any other benzo abuser. This Wikipedia article should provide a short overview of the whys and wherefores.
OP, you didn’t take it long enough, or took too much the first time. You basically slept through the high–which is basically a complete lack of ability to be anxious. Your anxieties essentially melt away.
Huh—it was prescribed for sleep, so maybe I got a huge dose or something. (For what it’s worth? Triazolam is MUCH better for whatever flavor of insomnia I had*–I didn’t day feeling hung over and like I was moving underwater)
I appreciate all the answers.
One other question: has it always been such a hot/popular drug? It’s not confirmation bias in this case–my experience with the stuff was like 2 years back–it’s not like I’m noticing it all of a sudden. I was cleaning out a e-mail address I’d forgotten I’d had’s spam box and there’s a clear change from “V1COD1N!” to “KLONOP1N!” a couple of months back,
*Waking up a couple of hours after I went to sleep and not being able to fall back asleep afterwards.
I’m on Klonopin right now for anxiety and it’s certainly helping me. It does make me a bit sleepy, but it’s not a high dose either, so doesn’t put me to sleep.
My mom’s on it for anxiety, but she only takes it when her anxiety is really bad because it makes her so groggy she’s unable to do a whole lot. But she feels calm.
I used to take it for anxiety too. Basically it was like having a couple of martinis on a Friday afternoon at a quarter past five. All cares just melted away in an instant. I could function but wouldn’t want to drive on it. It was becoming scarily good, so I ended up flushing most of what I had left when I felt I didn’t need it anymore…
