I’ve corrected Terr for similar behavior. After he posted a statement from Chief Lee to prove the truth of the matter in the statement, I said:

But Chief Lee, given that he had a motive to sugarcoat his department’s performance in light of subsequent criticism… might he have hedged a little? Is it possible?

And, amusingly, been chastised for it by a presumably pro-Zimmerman person:

It’s also possible he was telling the truth, isn’t it? Probable, in fact. Why tell a lie that he knew could, and would, so easily be found out, casting his department in an even worse light? That would make no sense.

You’re grasping at straws here, Bricker, which is most unlike you.

And Chief Lee didn’t present anything at all to support his claim that Zimmerman’s story didn’t change.

You take him at his word, but the prosecutor is obviously lying.

Yes. And it amazes me that people don’t see it. Witnesses and evidence that support their side are almost invariably described in ways that emphasize their reliability and lack of motive for anything except the unvarnished facts, while sources on the opposing side seem mired in conflict and motive to deceive.

Here, of course, I’m referring to Terr and company’s willingness to accept Chief Lee’s word as gospel but accused Ms. Corey of lying or bowing to political pressure.
