Why I don't eat pizza

I sit here and I am so freaking tired but NOOOOOOO I had pizza tonight.

I feel like I swallowed 10 sponges, my brain is slow and all I want is some sleep. But NOOOOOOOO I ate pizza. I love the taste and I didn’t have that much but I feel like a bloated whale.

This pisses me off because I am pooped and I need sleep but I feel like shit. I have no other human on the planet to blame but myself.

Fuck I love and I hate pizza. I love it for the taste, nothing like that cheese with a spunky tomato sauce but hate it for the feelings like I am going to explode.

So that’s my weak but honest bitch for the night. If I ever have pizza again may I rot in hell, or at least remember why I eat pizza about 2 times a year.

DAMNIT!

And I thought my friend who is mildly allergic to choclate had it bad.

Next time you have pizza, invite me over and I guaran-damn-tee you’ll only eat half as much as you usually do. Heck, if you’re slow, you’ll only eat an eighth as much as you usually do.

How many times have I told myself not to eat the chocolate, because chocolate will just leave a gummy aftertaste I’ll regret, and a weird headachey feeling… and yet still I eat the chocolate.

If we all did what was right all of the time, we wouldn’t be human.

What is it that you’re allergic to? I assume you’re having an allergic reaction, anyway, since you didn’t eat that much. Or are you just feeling B L O A T E D?

I have several friends that are allergic to tomatoes. Their solution? Pesto pizza. Mmmm-mmmm!

Lactose intolerant Dopers… unite!

I haven’t had pizza in a good 2 years or so. Fuck, do I miss good pizza from Federal Hill…

I’m with ya on this one, techchick.

i like pizza with soy cheese (vegan).

everyone says soy cheese doesn’t melt right, but i haven’t had problems with it. sometimes it just takes a little longer.

I HATE THAT!

I’m in college and i live in a house full of college kids. Like most college kids they consider pizza a food group unto itself. I usually end up going in for pizza to be social.

Ugh! It’s so gooey and good…and it stays gooeya nd bloated and bad in my stomach for the rest of my night. Like chips or wonderful buttermilk ranch pretzels that I am addicted to, pizza is one of those foods I isntantly regret eating.

I’m not allergic to any foods nor am I lactose intolerant. It’s the combo of the foods together that make me feel like that.

I had only two pieces.

I eat cheese all the time, I love and can eat anything with tomatoes I think it’s the crust with the cheese that messes with me. If they had whole wheat crust I can tolerate pizza better, if I have a sandwich I have whole wheat bread…come to think of it I had this reaction last time I had a hamburger.

Welp, I don’t have pizza for looooooong time again.

Damnit Dominoes, Papa Johns and Pizza Hut, why don’t you offer a whole wheat crust??? Fuckers. I would probably eat more pizza if they offered whole wheat crust. Besides white flour is just nasty – it’s glue for your intestines.

Yikes! You can’t walk 10 feet in NYC without some hypnotic aroma wafting out of a local pizza joint, dragging you in. My condolences.

If whole wheat works for you, check out your (gulp!) frozen food section. I’ve seen them there. I’m sure its not like the real thing, but better than nothing.

Of course, you can always try soaking up the grease, but I’ve always viewed that as a, ummmm, topping, if you will. I’ve worked with some people who found that worked for them.

Techchick, you might be allergic to the gluten in the white flour. You might consider seeing a nutritionist.

Punoqllads,

I imagine that my system does not like processed flour because I was not brought up on it. My mother had whole grains for virtually every bread product she brought home. In addition to that I have changed my eating habits where I don’t eat carbs with fat or proteins. I have slid on it lately but I do notice my system get wound up when I combine the two but pizza is the absolute worst and always has done that to me.

I spose I could learn to make my own pizza from scratch using whole wheat flour but that seems a little extreme.

That might the problem right there.

You were brought up in a household without junk food? Isn’t that considered child abuse in the US?

Actually, if someone had a good recipe for pizza crust, especially whole-wheat, I’d really like to know it. I’ve made pizzas by hand before, but I’ve never gotten the crust satisfactory to my taste. It always tastes too strongly of yeast.

Mmmmm…Pizza Hutt pizza is the best…it’s sooo good…even though it’s really oily…
Thanks for making me hungry!

Yeppers and I am glad my mother did. I don’t have cookies, chips, ice cream and other foods that have virtually no nutritional value in my home. Heck I still have Halloween candy from 1998 sitting in my cabinet.

Don’t get me wrong, on occasion I have something from the above but my mother was hip before it was hip to eat healthy and recycle. She was an odd bird but glad that she brought us up without the crap. My brother is the same way and rarely likes sweet foods or white breads.

jesuslynch,

Naw, I can handle spunky foods or spicy foods it’s the combination of the processed flour with cheese that probably makes me feel like a zit that’s about to pop. If I get anything from acidy foods it’s a little heartburn.

Damnit, now I am hungry and I have to go to the grocery store. Shit, now I will wander the isles looking for that perfect morsel.

I think I will stick to the tomato soup and some ham on the side though.

mmmmm… pizzaaa…

I live on pizza. Pizza is one of my food groups. “Pizza? Why Yes I’ll have a slice!”

Seriously, I feel very ‘weighted’ after eating pizza with any type of meat. Perhaps getting the veggie pizza would help you. Maybe its the excess oil from the meat that giving you the gut ache.

A local store makes a favorite called the ‘Jose’ -->>
Tomato paste is substituted for a sour cream paste -toppings include spicy sausage, japapenos, onions, three cheeses, and full slices of tomatoes cooked on top. Usually after two slices your laying on the floor in the fetal position rocking back and forth from the pain.

You may be on to something asking for whole wheat crust.
Substitute low-moisture yogurt for cheese, tofu for sausage, beet puree for tomato paste, and bean sprouts for the onions.

Voila! Improved pizza.

Mmmmm

Just kidding!

But my dorm cafeteria in college did something similar. They had “Reuben Junior” sandwiches all the time.
Instead of Grilled pumpernickel with corned beef, sauerkraut, and swiss cheese they had
Toasted white with smoked ham, coleslaw, and American cheese.

In other words, the same “profile” with NONE of the original ingredients.

Mmmmm

A real for-true chef I know says actual Italian pizza might have olives or onions on top.
The rest of the stuff that ends up on a pizza depends on what country you’re in.
The Japanese kinda like those little squids.

Have you tried those pills that you eat before dairy? I am mildly lactose intolerant (although cheese usu is OK)and one of my freinds is very lactose intolerant, and they work for us.

Here in SJ, we have “pizza-a-go-go” which offers a whole wheat alternative crust. A few other places do. Actually, there is nothing wrong with “processed white flour”- but not much good in it either.
