why i hate hondas

an acura that will beat a viper at only 0-60 in just 6 seconds? man oh man, the guy driving the viper must not know your racing, i think they do a tinsey bit better than 6 seconds, i mean, all that tourqe, my puny 5.o will do better than 6 seconds, best 0-60 time i ever got was 5.75, and thats an all stock pony. so lets race for pink slips, or would you chicken out?

Silo,

I know more about car care than most women…right now my fucking car is the last of my concerns.

I know what needs to be done and can do it myself including changing spark plugs, brakes, air filter, fuel filter, etc.

If it quits on me, oh well…sorry I have a bad attitude about life in general and it’s lasted for several years.

It has oil, I keep the tires inflated and for now that is good enough for me.

But trust me, if you put a Mustang through that kind of torture, it wouldn’t last as long as my Honda has.

Therefore I had to point this out to the OP because a Ford can’t handle it.

I hope I don’t end up walking, but right now my internal self is more important than my car. Wait, I do baby my computers though, but they don’t require hundreds of dollars a year for upkeep and trips outside my house.

I forgot, I have changed oil before several times.

When you don’t have the gumption or the tools or the desire to be in public, you do what you have to do.

AND, I am not dumb!

fords cant take abuse? i once drove a ford bronco II for about a month with no oil at all, sure the thing was a hunk of crap, and burnt a little oil, but it didnt need to have oil, didnt even scorch the bearings

BTW, never call me DUMB or you will see your name in the Pit.

I am a member of many boards including a moderator on one and have been for five years. NEVER has anyone ever called me dumb.

Dumb or stupid or any form of putting someone down is feed for flaming…call me that again, I don’t care if it’s in jest, coming from you is something I will take to the Pit.

Sorry, but you hit a sore spot with me and I wont tolerate it.

Ooh…you beat me to it VV!!

And remember kids, crack doesn’t smoke itself!

Errrmmm… it still burnt oil, even when there was none in it?

What type of person am I when I drive a Peugeot, fnord? You seem to be one hell of a psychiatrist

(Hint: I’m not American, so drop the Commie crap already.)

Hondas? Personally, I prefer Yamahas.

Are you a turtle?

Well, I’ve owned five Hondas (3 Preludes, 1 Civic and 1 Accord) and now drive an Acura CL.

In a moment of stupidity several years ago I bought a Ford Mustang. Big mistake; got rid of it within 6 months. I will never again drive anything but Honda or Acura. Oh, except for my Town n’ Country minivan when I am on road trips or running errands where I need alot of room.

~Never got a Wally sig~

First car: 81 Camero. It went pretty fast, and cornered like crazy.

Next car: Piece of shit Oldsmobile Cutless. It was nice when it was new (In 86), but when it broke down, it broke down hard. Kind of like the Camero, come to think of it.

My current car is the clost thing to a new car I’ve ever owned, and the first one I’ve ever financede and paid for completely on my own: A 97 Honda Accord. It doesn’t have quite the acceleration of the Camero, but who gives a fuck? It has better milage, better overall performance, and it doesn’t break down every 6 months.

I guess i just look at things a little differently now that I’m older.

You say “cheesy” like that’s a BAD thing.

Silo: What Acura do you have that does 0-60 in 6 seconds?

I have a VW Jetta. Not fast or anything, but it can be fun to drive. Its worked out well so far, other than electrical system problems (the left headlight keeps crapping out), and a small, stupid vibration that always comes on just when i hit 2000 rpm.

Wow! Borderline pit fodder!

I’ve driven all over this country and in England, too.

I confess a partiality to either British or German iron. I currently own 3 different model Volkswagens, a Mercedes an MG, a Kawasaki KZ1000J motorcycle, and our minivan, a Dodge Caravan which we love.

I’ll echo another post and just say that their aren’t any vehicles on the road these days that aren’t international in construction. My Rabbit is an example.

Brakes: Canada
Body: USA
Head: Brazil
Electronics: Japan & Germany

And those are just the parts I know about.

I had a Harley rider insult my bike one day, saying he wouldn’t own anything foreign.
After I pointed out to him that he would have to remove his ignition system, forks and brakes, the light turned green and I left him in the dust.

I buy whatever I want regardless of country of manufacture. If you want me to buy American, then produce something that’s worth buying; If you’ll note my vehicles above, I walk the talk in this regard.

I happen to dislike Fords particularly. I like their styling, interior layouts and colours, but the their build quality is questionable, and their after sales service is abysmal.
They are ok if you intend to trade them in every couple of years or so, but I wouldn’t have one longterm on a bet.

Patron Saint of All Things Hot and Fiery …

I’ve performed a complete diagnosis of your car. It’s broken.

  • A Wally original!

Have him check the carburator as well. It’s made by Keihin (Japanese).

As it happens, I started a thread in General Questions asking what parts of a Harley are Japanese. I only know the forks and carb.

Are you a turtle?

hey fnord, just curious… what year and model is your mustang?

You got that right. I had an '84 Ford Tempo that wouldn’t go into third gear, so I had to go on the freeway in second gear. It took the car a good six months to crap out!

Anyway, now I have a '91 Thunderbird. I’ve had do have some service done, but it is a used car.

When I get older and have the money, I think I would get an Audi.

Silo: What Acura do you have that does 0-60 in 6 seconds?

Acura Legend type L
like brand new, I change all the fluids regularly, Changed the air intake to a K&N filter designed for the NSX. Use Red-Line Oil and super lubricants. Triple insulated the entire inside of the car–it’s totally soundproof. EVERY fluid in my car is synthetic, well not the gas. A stock 91 Acura has 200 horsepower, mine has more like 240. I also love the Turanza T tires and I have replaced the stock shocks which suck. It goes on and on…

Oh and Techchick, HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! silly girl. Take me in the pit I don’t care. Miss PMS.
