Not surprising that huge government supporters dislike someone like The Donald. It upsets the corrupt status quo. Donald Trump Is Shocking, Vulgar and Right - POLITICO Magazine
I love the way the writer first says
And a few short lines afterwards writes
So… like the Donald, the writer seems to think that the truth isn’t troubled when widespread allegations are made. He also makes the strange argument that the Donald was the only one to see that
Really? You think the Donald cares about these issues? You don’t think that someone who viciously defends the only important thing int the world (THE DONALD) actually would use this line of argument solely to bring someone into his fold?
Tucker Carlson seems to be one of those writers who see some points that resemble thoughts they have had all along and rationalize everything else to fall into line. And will act very, very surprised when the Donald bites their hand.
I sincerely hope that people veer off from these lines of thought.
Disliking Trump upsets the “corrupt status quo”? Well, I’ll ramp up on that, as stern duty demands.
In recent times, the democrats have been the party of the less educated, as per studies done bypew research.. That would be impressive if Trump was able to make such significant headway into what has in recent years been a largely democratic leaning demographic.
The slant among the less educated, as your own cite shows, is only 47-37. The same page shows the advantage to Democrats among college graduates as 52-40, and among post-graduates as a whopping 56-36. The TL;DR summary of that page is that almost all groups lean Democratic except White evangelicals and Mormons.
Did you guys hear about how Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum say that Romney is a Muslim? Read that somewhere, no idea how these rumors get started…
It’s as if you are arguing against me, yet also supporting my argument. If Trump’s support is overwhelmingly from less than college educated people then it would be more likely than not that his support is coming from certain Democrats.
Of course this is not a certainty, but if one were to speculate it would seem the odds must favor Trump having strong support from former democrats - given the general and consistent trend in that demographic in recent years. I myself don’t really like to speculate, I like data, but I do not know where to find such data and the poster asserting that Trump’s support is from the uneducated has not been able to find any data directly supporting that assertion either.
Most analysis (and the pew research is consistent with this) maintains that Democrats are heavily favored by the wealthy and educated as well as those on the lower end of the education and socioeconomic spectrum. The democrats are also heavily favored by minorities and women. The republicans have less support overall, but are strongest with middle income voters. I find it strange the handwringing over the education level of Trump supporters when that demographic has so heavily been a part of the democrat’s base for so long.
Yeah, I think we’d learn more about what a Trump presidency would look like from his eventual VP pick than from listening to Trump. Dick Cheney defined Bush’s presidency. I think that Trump would similarly pick a running mate to “manage” things for him.
ETA: At the same time, Trump would probably try to be surer than Bush was that his VP was aware of how he wanted things managed.
Is Trump v. Sanders the only way Sanders can win the general?
Cruz v. Sanders would be an interesting match up.
Even many republicans don’t like Cruz much…
It’s not like the rest of the Republican candidates are any less xenophobic, irrational, theocratic, chickenshit, selfish, and dishonest than Trump is. They’re just too boring to seize the spotlight from him.
If Sanders wins the nomination - still a longshot - then the calculus for preferring the Democrat to the Republican remains the same.
Well, that or the Rapture.
Not a chance. If the Rapture occurs I’m voting for the most Evangelical candidate I can because goddamm they’re right. Can we get Kim Davis as VP?
AIUI, there won’t be any evangelical candidates left to vote for.
Here’s another reason I would vote for Trump - the direction the leadership has allowed the Party to go? If he is pissing them off he must be doing something right.
