Why is Captain Kirk wearing eyeliner in this photo?

Because he is the evil Kirk?

I just assumed it was done to make those evil eyes look bigger than they really are.

Because he just felt pretty.

stage makeup - emotional impact

Looks like it’s accentuating the angry, grubby, sweaty theme.

The ‘sweat’ is makeup as well.

[Sulu]Helooooooo…[/Sulu]

Maybe the picture’s from that one episode where Kirk gets his brain stolen by that Captain Janeway-looking woman. “Turnabout Intruder,” I believe. Evidently she somehow forgot that she was in someone else’s body while putting her makeup on. Clearly she’s not a morning person.

Then again, I really don’t want to know what Captain Janeway would be doing in Kirk’s body to cause that sweaty, hunched-over, wide-eyed grimacing expression.

yeah, isn’t this from the episode of the transporter accident, where Kirk splits into two people? One strong and evil, one weak and kinda wishy washy. I think.

Man, Shatner was hot back in the day.

I think that’s a clip from the episode where they went into the alternate universe where everyone was exactly the same, only gay.

I remember that Spock looked cool in a tank top and shorts.

Surprisingly, Chekov looked exactly the same…

You meant Sulu right?

Snark!

No, no, no, evil people are always bisexual in the evil alternate universe, e.g., [Intendant Kira Nerys.

If it’s this episode, IIRC Shatner was running a 102 F fever at the time.

They all wore a lot of makeup in every episode. Sulu and Spock practically looked like drag queens.

This was probably just the work of a particular zealous make-up person.

Ooh, this shot must be from the long-suppressed Trek episode “The Spocky Horror Picture Show,” in which William Shatner played the role of Dr. Kirk N. Furter.

Oh, my!

Let’s do the Warp Speed again…

You win the intarnets.

It is the “Evil Kirk” just as he was being thrown into the brig by “our” Spock.

Eye makeup makes a character look evil.
