In many candid pics of her, she often has various small bruises on her arms and legs. Does she have thin blood, inadequate clotting factor… what?
I don’t know what Courtney Love’s deal is, other than being a repulsive train wreck. But I can tell you that I am somewhat klutzy AND I bruise very easily, so I usually have a few bruises. I am otherwise healthy.
I thought maybe it had something to do with injecting drugs. I’m not exactly sure if that would explain bruises all over her body, but it’s what it makes me think of.
That, and she seems to be perpetually drunk/stoned, so I’m sure she bumps into things all the time.
Might be make-up. She seems to be striving for that strung-out skanky heroin chic.
Replace “striving for that” with “a” and “chic” with “-using no-talent bum” and I think you might be on to something…
Well, my point is whether or not Love is actually still using heroin is irrelevant. She’s become associated with the image of being a heroin user and even if she’s clean and sober, trying to change that image might jeopardize her already tenuous fan base.
I can tell you from having had my own years of excess (but probably never to Ms. Love’s level of excess), that drunken, drug addled people have lots of bruises.
I used to call them Unexplainable Party Injuries because you never know where you get them from.
Maybe someone with medical knowlege can answer this, does heaving drinking/drugging, and not enough food make you bruise easier, or are you just more clumsy?
IV drug use can cause bruises at the site of the injection, although that may or may not be the case with Courtney Love. She may just be clumsy.
Because she’s a) fair-skinned and b) a crazed junkie. I knew the guy who was her dealer when she was in Memphis filming The People vs. Larry Flynt. He bought a Lexus.

I had a friend who was constantly covered with bruises during the active phase of her alcoholism, and it wasn’t just because drunks fall down a lot.
Sorry – I meant to say that I was not disputing the correlation between heroin abuse and bruises (I found a cite with an absolutely sickening picture of injection site bruising caused by clogged vessels). I’m just saying that if we were to give good ol’ Courtney the benefit of the doubt regarding her current heroin intake, booze could help to account for her lovely blue patina. (Ick!)

Anyone remember the night that crazy Courtney interrupted the post-VMA interview that Kurt Loder and Tabitha Soren were conducting with Madonna? She stumbled her way up the stairs and wasn’t able to competently sit down on a high stool without assistance.
And that was a decade or so ago – everything that’s been reported about Love says that she’s much worse nowadays, substance abuse-wise, than she’s ever been before.
Mix excessive-drinking, possible use of injected narcotics, a person with a history of being, quite literally, a sloppy fall-down drunk with a penchant for wearing very high heeled shoes and skimpy clothing which exposes a lot of very fair skin and you’ve got a perfect recipe for someone to look like, well, like Courtney Love.
I think those marks are caused by 10 foot poles.

Pale-skinned people DO show bruises very easily, and they look worse against that ivory skin.
Well, when you’re fucked up on Oxycontin, booze, and any number of other substances you probably fall down and bump into stuff quite a bit more than the average Joe.
