Several times throughout the series it’s been alluded to that she graduated from college. Has it ever been mentioned what her major was? Since she went straight to work for a magazine I assume her major was, you know, Journalism. Wouldn’t a Journalism major take a couple of writing classes in college?
I think she just wants to write more. You DO need to keep your chops up and part of keeping one’s chops up isn’t just writing but also being evaluated by either a professor or some classmates.
For the record, she is taking a creative writing class. When I was in journalism school I had 1-2 news writing classes per semester but I only took one creative writing class in four years, and that was an elective. I don’t think that many of my peers took creative writing at all.
Anyway, I think it’s just an exercise for her.
She might not necessarily have been a journalism major, though. These days, you can pretty much major in anything as long as you’ve got the basic “liberal arts” education. My school didn’t even have a journalism major.
Wikipedia, which is frequently spot-on when it comes to obsessive pop culture details, states she has a BFA in “Media” from Queens College.
More importantly, Betty is taking a writing class as a plot device.
Which I am fine with, if it leads to more appearances of Victor “Magnificent Bastard” Garber as her professor.
Awww. I knew I should’ve watched last week. But no, I had to go belly dancing.
Victor Garber, really?
And she and Henry are really finished? (That’s what my mom told me.) No more Betty and Henry? Argh. But…maybe she and sandwich guy?
Yup. Go to abc.go.com and you can watch the ep.
Well, how can they be finished when she hasn’t seen what he looks like minus the dork glasses, argyle sweater vests and Brylcreem? They can’t be through until that happens.
