Why is my Safari blocking Trump "social media" news?

Just now I tripped across a disturbing problem with my Safari on iPad.

I cannot read a news story from the the Washington Post about Trump starting his own social media platform.

“The URL was blocked by a content blocker,” the Safari screen said.

I turned off my ad blocker and VPN. The same notice appeared.

Also, I cannot read about “Trump social media” on Newsweek or The Christian Monitor.

The kicker: I can read the story topic on all the sites with Firefox with all the content blockers turned on. The same notice appears on the screen.

Here is the link from the Post.

What am I up against here? Are you having the same problem?

How can I fix this?

The kicker: too late to edit. The same notice does not appear on Firefox.

I can only answer this question: it works fine for me on my iDevices (iPhone, iPad) and desktop on Safari… With the iPhone, I tried it both on a cellular connection and the local wireless network, and both worked.

Did you check Settings > Safari > Content Blockers to make sure nothing is blocked there? I know you said you turned off your ad blocker, but I’m not sure if that’s the same process or not. I read that Ad Block has its own “Safari Content Blocking” setting in Ad Block’s “General” tab.

If you did all that, try opening the page in private mode in Safari and see if anything different happens.

Now, crap. That’s what it was.

Apparently there is more than one place to turn off blockers. I thought I did that, but nope.

Thanks.

The ad blocker seems a little overzealous.
