Again!! the recent new ad’s on this site are scrolling my browser Version 10.1.2 (10603.3.8) to the bottom of the page…
Does this board have no Minions that check the ads out on multiple platforms??

In the meantime, just disable Javascript in your browser. You’ll find that cures a multitude of sins. I run my browser with JS disabled all the time except when I really need it (rarely) and for the most part, it’s a much nicer experience (at least for the kind of stuff I do, which is largely just reading text pages like SDMB and news articles).

Sleazy ad hijack as of this evening:
When attempting to open forums or specific threads on the Dope using an iPhone, the user is redirected to a window that offers congratulations and advises clicking on “OK” to secure their spot (there is no “OK” button). The webpage open in the background is purportedly a WalMart Facebook page. There is no way out of this except to go to another site.
This is not happening with any other webpages.
I’m getting the same thing as Jackmannii - iPhone 6 using Safari. Happens upon opening any boards.straightdope page.
My CPU just starts whirring like crazy and the computer freezes for a few minutes then I get an audio ad for something. This happens randomly when I open a new page. Perhaps kill the audio video components of these ads.

I have this as well - iPhone 7+ running Safari. The Dope is completely inaccessible for me and has been for two days due to this specific ad.

For the record, I can NOT use my phone to read the board threads. At all.
I keep getting hijacked on my iPhone to a Facebook/Walmart site to pick a prize.
