It seriously takes me a good minute or two to open a thread.
I have a DSL connection and I have tried two different browsers (IE 5.5, Netscape 4.7) and have seen no improvment. Is it the fact that it isn’t a static page?
Help me!:smack:
IDK, but if you can open a thread at all, you’re doing better than I often do.
I’m with Shoshana. Failure more often than success. . .
I don’t think it has much to do with connection speed. It’s on Cecil’s end, not enough gun power in the database software or hardware.
I am guessing they are using MS SQL as their database. hehe
You get what you pay for. This is free.
Heads, I move it to ATMB.
Tails, I close it.
It’s never tails, is it? Or maybe I just never see the ones that get closed.
Read the FAQ.

Heh, should I mention that when I use the SDMB at school, it takes mere seconds to load a forum?
Good ol’ cable.
But don’t feel bad, at home my 56 keeps it nice and slow.
Try loading the main page, straightdope.com, that should be fast
BTW, in your user profile you can turn things on & off to make minor speed improvements. Like turning off having to view Sigs of any kind.
That one I jumped on as soon as I read about it.
