Why is this forum so slow?

Sometimes it’s normal but most of the time it takes forever to post…

Just now, after 5 minutes I pressed “Submit Reply” again I get this message:
“Sorry! The administrator has specified that users can only post one message every 60 seconds.”

After waiting a while I try again and my post is posted.

I have high speed cable and never see this problem except on this forum?
:frowning:

By “Forum,” you do mean this Message Board, SDMB, right? Not just a specific forum like Great Debates or General Questions?

No matter how high-speed your Internet connection is, the speed of the SDMB server is the limiting factor. Unlike some bigger & wealthier sites, SDMB has only a limited number of overworked hamsters available to keep the wheels turning. Be patient and be grateful we have this resource at all.

Have a nice day!

The “General” forum.

OK, that’s about what I thought.

I do enjoy the forum… just not the waiting.

Thanks for the quick answer.

One solution is to post at less-crowded times. Monday through Friday, 9 - 5 in the U.S. time zones tends to be the most crowded (gee, I wonder why.) So, posting outside those time frames tends to give you a speedier post-rate.
