About a year ago, I coincidentally was in a downtown area hosting a KKK rally, and yes it was fun to hurl insults at the KKK guys.
But two things struck me: One, that there were actually people there who drove x number of miles simply to hurl insults at the KKK guys, which I thought was weird- its not like your going to get them to change their minds.
Two: a friend of mine, bordeline racist himself, was hurling insults at them too, and was one of the more vocal protesters. Which was odd, and says something about psychology- I’m not sure what. Thus my earlier question.
Well, you see, where VCO3’s ancestors grew up, there were lions. Now, lions are dangerous, and so the people living there, when they saw a lion, would have to shout and warn the villagers. In a case like that, it was a benefit to be a stereotyping moron. If somebody living in the village who saw a lion got to take the time to get to know it, and realize that it wasn’t neccesarily so bad, kind of like that lion in Born Free, it was likely the lion would eat him. But if they shouted when they first saw a lion, they’d be safe. So all the sensitive, tolerant tribes were eaten.
Captain Amazing, I, Zebra, am the board expert on ‘how not to be eaten by Lions’. Please do not publish your inaccurate information as lives are at stake.
Now as to VC03, has he renewed? Or is he trying to go out in a blaze of glory-hole.

What do you think “offend” means? I get the feeling that a lot of people define “offended” as “some mysterious emotion that whiny black people have”. It’s really much more general than that.

So you’re saying VC03 is a lion? And the black people are all shouting because they don’t want to be eaten?
Another one of my favorite VCO3 threads: Going to the movies on Christmas or other big holidays makes you an asshole.
That one went so over the top that I was seriously questioning whether or not he was okay mentally or physically.

I have a question- not defending the OP, and this is a legitamate question that calls for instrospection that I’m not sure many are willing to do. How many people in the original pile-on really actually are outraged by the comment, and how many are just taking the opportunity to feel superior by putting an ignorant racist in his place, whether or not they agree or even care? I’m sure many black posters are rightfully offended, but how about the rest?
While I don’t agree with the post, what if this is VCO3’s acutally only experience with blacks? Maybe he/she only goes in public to his/her job, where by coincidence there are loud blacks?
This exact topic is the basis for the entire act of about 25% of the comics on the BET comedy show, so its not like he/she pulled the concept out of his/her ass.

Well, it’s at least to cause AN emotion. I can think that something is wrong and dumb and not have any emotional response to it whatsoever. Reality television, for example, I find wrong and dumb, but its existence does not offend me. “Offend” is a much stronger word, I think.
I think a lot of the hullaballoo is simply because **VC03 **seems incapable of posting questions, and instead posts mission statements. Inarguable? Really? Is he new here, 'cause there’s NOTHING this board can’t argue (and who’s gonna be the first smart ass to argue me on that?). If he had said, “It’s been my impression that [blah blah blah], because when I see [blah, blah, blah] it makes me wonder if [blah, blah, blah] Does any of this resonate with anyone else?” then his threads might go over a mite better. But he has to know that - he’s making the choice to post the way he does.
I’m not saying VC03’s not a stereotyping moron, but then, based on the OP’s examples, so are about half of all stand-up comedians.
Maybe VC03 thinks he’s engaging in some of that witty observational humor?

I think the problem too is regardless whether this stereotype is true is not the point, it is that this one is a negative one. I just asked a couple of black people “what are some black stereotypes that are true, that you personally don’t take offense to, and possibly even revel in - not counting sexual ones”. One said “that our weddings never start on time, and we never show up on time for them anyway”, and the other said “that black men don’t smile when they have their picture taken”.
Let’s say a test showed that the white race is the stupidest race on the planet. You ask a white guy “why are white people so stupid”, no one likes that, or the way its phrased, but ask in a more delicate manner, you may get actual responses.
My point being, whether or not the question is valid,** VCO3**, assuming you feel this and wanted actual responses, you will not get them phrasing it the way you did.

I can’t find the threads now, but he’s had some other interesting ideas. Like when he said that it’s wrong to earn interest on bank deposits and that he doesn’t plan to ever own a house or have any stock market investments (because that’s also wrong for some reason). I want to know what the color of the sky is in his world.

Oh man, why did you mention those? I just did a “find all threads” on our boy. Sheesh. He has been here since July 2005 and has started 314 threads!! I just read a bunch of thread titles. It appears that for every thought, question or occurrence in his life during that period, he has started a thread. Sometimes two.
