I don’t know. Maybe it’s just because I haven’t been paying that much attention to VCO3 (until I read this thread I hadn’t realized how many of those posts were all written by the same person) but I see him more as clueless rather than malicious.
Well, it’s not that weird; one, does he think he is borderline racist, or just normail? And two, it really depends on how an organization presents itself. I love animals and am in favor of the animal rights movement in general, but damned if PETA doesn’t just piss me off.

Cool thread, but in it somebody asked what does ethnicity have anything to do with it, and my thoughts go back to a girl I had a crush on from India. I finally got the courage to ask her out and she told me that she would love to (apparently she liked me too), but her parents forbid her to date anybody white, black, or any color other than that which comes from India (she didn’t state it, but I suspected it had more to do with religion or beliefs than skin color).
Anyway, a bit of a hijack, but caste, color and creed often play a significant role in dating. As sad as it is.
I vote clueless rather than malicious as well. It’s as if he posts on impulse before the critical faculties of intelligent reason kick in (if they ever do, at all). I don’t think a lot of his opinions are particularly controversial, but his expression lacks tact and is often greatly overstated.

Well, as long as attitudes like Grossbottom’s exist (see here), I can’t say I blame them. (Not dissing Grossbottom necessarily, but there is this sort of weird feel to the OP regarding “Persian chicks.”)
Personally I’m not in favor of anyone stopping anybody from dating who they like. I do get uncomfortable around some White guys I’ve known who are into “Asian chicks,” “Black chicks,” “Indian chicks,” and so forth. I knew a White guy who dated exclusively Black women, and I thought it was a little strange, like he had a fetish or something. But it’s a free world. People are welcome to pursue whomever they like for whatever reasons they like. I can see parents having a problem with this (though their reasons may be more rooted in racism and ethnocentrism).
