It means he looks like more of a conservative’s idea of what a president should like like: white. The one thing R. Money trumps Obama in handily.
Romney won in the way that counted. He exposed the Obama campaign’s relentless personal attacks as lies. Anyone who hadn’t seen Romney unfiltered and had relied on the Obama campaign’s portrayal of him wouldn’t recognize the guy they saw at the three debates. I’m sure many felt lied to.
That’s why Romney now leads Obama in favorability by 2.2 points on average. And why the Obama campaign is now frantically thinking up new ways to be negative to the point where it’s self-parody.
I consider you self-parody, actually.
intrade has obama to win 62%. romney is 40%. i’m starting to relax a little. i think obama might have this in the bag…
It’s a good thing you’re on the internet. I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to say that out loud and keep a straight face.
If Obama had a 62% chance of winning in 2008 and a 62% chance of winning in 2012, and they are independent events, then the odds of winning both would be 38%.
62% is anything but overwhelming. 80% isn’t overwhelming either. 95% is overwhelming- just.
Alternative theory for his higher favorability?
Emphasis added. You’re employing the Gambler’s Fallacy. 62% may not be overwhelming, but whatever the odds were in the last election, they have zero impact on this one in the sense you seem to be suggesting.
See my earlier mod note. Argue the facts without the personal commentary.
But you’ve ruined the joke, and a possible meme!
Nixon was a good policy maker, but he spent a lot of energy subverting the constitutional process for picking a president. That’s not only evil, it’s bad presidenting. Part of the job description is to uphold the constitution.
I can accept terrible human beings can make good presidents. Andrew Jackson, FDR, Kennedy. Nixon doesn’t deserve that consideration.
Correction to my previous post; I misheard. The Glenn Beck/Cheney fundraiser in Dallas was not attended by Romney. One of his sons was scheduled to appear, and Paul Ryan by video.

According to the Obama campaign, he’s a hardcore Tea Party right-winger. They wouldn’t lie to us, now would they?

Well, he certainly seems to want their money and votes. You tell me, since you seem to believe you know Romney’s positions for certain: which is the real Romney, the one at the debates, or the one who was campaigning for the previous year or so?
Oh no anything but that?
I don’t know who the real Romney is when it comes to his positions on many issues, but then I don’t know Obama’s real views either on many issues. What I do understand is the competence gap between the two men.
Really? What Obama views would you like me to clarify for you?
Just what is is that you think Romney is so competent at? Begging for government handouts to save the Olympics in SLC? Vulture capitalism? Outsourcing work to China? Getting rich by gutting companies and laying off workers and cancelling pensions that these people worked years and years for? Have you looked into what’s happening with Sensata in Illinois?
He still owns 51% of Bain, so he is not clean on this since no company will do anything the majority owner does not approve of, and he stands to profit quite handsomely from getting rid of these American jobs. Is this the model you want for America moving forward? This is what’s going to improve our economy and create jobs? Although didn’t Mitt also say repeatedly at the debates that the government can’t create jobs? And didn’t he also, minutes later, promise that he would create 12 million jobs in his term? Which of these is true, and which is a bald faced lie?
What is it that Mitt is competent at that is actually good for the country?
You should check what his approval rating was as he left the governorship in Mass. Not good.
Your view of this man does not seem to be at all related to reality.
Same goes for Obama, your comments seem completely divorced from reality. I just wonder where your distorted view of reality comes from? Do you watch Fox news, or listen to right wing radio? I’m not trying to paint you that way, I’m just trying to understand how you came to be so misinformed about these two men.
We do know what he’s promised to do (even though he tends to lie about it or misrepresent it to swing voters).
He’s been president for four years and has a considerable record that could be evaluated. And while all politicians are, well, politicians, Obama simply does not lie about his own record the way Romney does. Romney and to a lesser extent Ryan have been pretty blatant about lying about their own statements on taxes, Medicare, abortion, and just about anything else.
I don’t think calling Romney out for being a liar is effective regardless of how true it is. His base doesn’t care. They can easily rationalize with “they all lie.” They think they will save a few bucks on taxes with Romney. They have been conditioned to believe “anyone but Obama” is a valid reason to vote for Willard. Of course, unless they make over 6 figures and over, he has nothing to offer from an economic standpoint.
That’s not the intended audience. And ignoring it certainly doesn’t do anybody any good either.
Apparently the Romney campaign photoshopped a pic to try to make the crowd look bigger.
Really? At this stage of the game? Jebus.
