It seems there are no photos available of Jack Chick that aren’t over 40 years old. Why is this. Chick, I assume, is a pretty famous person. In fact, a recent interview of Chick yielded only a drawing of what Chick currently looks like - no picture. Anyone know why?

The same site mentions that he is a recluse, but doesn’t say why.

It’s to prevent anyone from finding out that he’s their next-door neighbor and being forced, through a sense of duty to humanity, to save the world from him.

Wow. I had no idea Jack Chick was a real person. I thought he was a fictitious author like the group that put out the Nancy Drew novels.
If you follow the link to the converstion the author had (claims to have had?) with Jack Chick, you’ll find the following exchange:
Jack: "…I don’t let my picture be taken. I’m on too many hit lists.”
Author: “Uh-huh?”
Jack: “Yes, we get death threats every week . . . from the Muslims.”
If Jack Chick thinks he’s under attack, that might explain why he’s a reculse.

That sometimes brilliant zine The Imp published a 1998 edition in the shape of a Chick tract which tells you all you ever wanted to know about JTC, and more… including the address of his office and a map of the route from his PO Box to his office in Chino, CA. There’s also a photo of the office. It refers to him as “the arch-baldy,” which gives you some idea of what he looks like. I highly recommend tracking down a copy… maybe eBay?
He was born in the early to mid 1920s, so you may have a limited time to meet him. According to this FAQ, the above comment that he’s afraid of the Pope is absolutely accurate (reality outstrips sarcasm once again, assuming that was sarcasm):

Apparently, looking at my Imp copy, the PO Box was in Chino for 30 years. It’s now in Ontario, CA and his office in nearby Cucamonga.
I suppose I can buy that there aren’t any photos of Jack Chick because he thinks people are after him (as mentioned in other posts) — but than giving his office address doesn’t seem to follow from that -. Also, the interview that was linked indicates that Chick was at the opening (or some showing) of his film. In fact, going to this ‘opening’ with the hope that Chick would be there was how the linked ‘Chick interview’ was obtained. And according to the interviewer, Chick didn’t seem hesitant to acknowledge he was in fact ‘Jack Chick’ - even when asked by a stranger – 
The interviewer, and everyone else in the theatre, had been invited by Jack or his staff to a tiny, tiny preview of an obscure movie.
I only know what **Crandolph ** just posted about the other article, but it sounds to me like *The Imp * followed Jack from his PO box to his office and published that information without consent from Chick, Inc.
Jack Chick is Cecil Adams.
Since even a cursory glance at some Chick tracts reveal an incredible amount of paranoia, I don’t see how one could be surprised that Chick is a virtual recluse.

I’ve actually read a couple of articles on the 'net that speculate that Jack Chick is, in fact, dead, and has been for quite a few years now. The name Jack Chick my, in fact, now be the collective nom de plume of a staff of writers and artists (and I use both terms loosely) who continue The Late Grate’s good work.

A few minutes ago I read a reply that had a link to a supposed photo of Cecil in a posed group shot. The reply said “back row, third from the right”, iirc.

Anyway, if you need proof that Cecil and Chick are one and the same, go to this link (stolen from asmodius in that other thread, and look at the far right in the third photo down (same as in the top photo), then compare him to the sketch in malodorous’s (#3) link.
