After all, we have C-Span. I’m sure somebody would be willing to watch the UN 24-7.
Why not indeed? I’d watch.
With the recent demise of “World News for Public Television”, it would be a good resource for the minority of US viewers interested in international events (other than “Who We Bombing Now?”).
I could have sworn C-SPAN did coverage of the UN from time to time. I’m not sure though.
Originally C-SPAN covered both Congress and the United Nations. It was called Congress & United Nations Television, but they changed the name at TV Guide’s request when somebody extrapolated the acronym. Once the name change went into effect, the UN got pushed aside for stories of more “local” (to American’s) interest.

You gotta admit, that would make those roll-call votes and quota checks more interesting.
I’m not sure the UN has day to day meetings. Don’t they do most of their work in commitee?
Reeder, I have no idea. I just thought of it because twice now in the last week or so, all the cable networks and maybe the main networks covered both Blix’s report and Powell’s statement. Probably we’ll see something like it again on Feb. 14.
I was flipping past the channels and caught a bit of someone speaking at the UN on an issue (sorry, half-awake at the time) and in the lower right hand corner of the screen was a logo box which said UNTV. So that seems to indicate that they do have such a set up, we just can’t get it on our cable systems.
