besides her basic PR problems there is a history of events that leave a bad aftertaste.
The Clinton’s [failed] Whitewater investment which involved a real-estate deal between a sitting Governor and an employee. Hillary did legal work for the McDougals who in turn committed fraudulent loans that brought down a financial institution. The billing records of those transactions went missing for years and then turned up in the White House.
Hillary’s health care initiative which was very unpopular. During this initiative she went to the stock market and sold short in pharmaceuticals while publicly slamming them.
Travelgate
Filegate
A freak show of bimbo’s that her husband would bring [back] to the White House.
The Clinton legacy of campaign contributions from Chinese interests
The character assassination of every woman who complained about Bill’s sexual harassment.
The most divisive comment in US history, the one about “the vast right-wing conspiracy.”
The idiotic plan to take $5,000 from me and give it to your kid and take credit for the gift.
Her current plans to increase capital gains and other taxes.
Lying about how her daughter was almost killed on 9/11 because she had once jogged downtown.
Theft of government furniture on the way out of the White House.
Lying about how much she was aware of Bill’s sexual activities. And if she wasn’t aware, then she certainly does not have the judgement to be POTUS and Commander in Chief.
OK, those are all good reasons not to bring her back. I think this disproves the contention that she’s OK because we already know what’s wrong with her.
That said, the “socialist” nonsense: John Edwards is a socialist. So’s Mitt Romney. So’s George W Bush. So am I. So’s most of America.
No, really. The people who want to abolish all public aid to the poor are a weak & hated minority, & the rest of us are [sub]socialists,[/sub] by the classic definition of the word.
Or maybe I’m wrong about that. Maybe even the Dems & people themselves on public assistance believe in, “pulling people up by their bootstraps.” But if you’re using a stricter standard of socialism, an incrementalist like HRC doesn’t qualify.
I generally agree with your first paragraph, but the second one leaves me wondering how her “willing to do or say anything” jibes with her unpopular-with-many ideas for health care, tax reform, Middle East, etc.
Puh-leeeze. I think THAT honor goes to the Bush and his minions for saying/implying that those who don’t support his Iraq blunder are at best unpatriotic and at worst terrorists.
Don’t you think that in this conversation, it’s pretty disingenuous to pretend as though you don’t know that whether or not they should be increased is a matter of opinion? Plan B was stating reasons some people dislike Hillary, and that is one of the reasons. THAT is the point (obviously).
What reality are you living in? Have you forgotten how many tinfoil-hat accusations were leveled against Clinton from day one of his administration and even before he took office? Remember that Vince Foster thing? Whitewater? The rape charges? The adultery charge was the only one that stuck because it just happened to be the only one with a basis in reality.
The point is that Bush – uniquely in history, AFAIK – cut taxes at the start of a war. We have a whopping deficit now, and there is no way to reduce it without raising taxes. That is not a matter of opinion.
You don’t think there was a conspiracy, that is to say a large group of republican planners, tacticians, politicians and grassroots supporters who fabricated outright lies and pushed half-truths and partial truths about the Clinton administration?
Read the thread, unthinking republicans still believe them. I shared an office with a guy who believed that the Clintons assassinated people regularly.
Is it your opinion that America should be massively in debt? Do you believe that cutting programs is realistically the way to get the debt under control?
Let me put it this way…I don’t believe there was any more of that going on then than there is of Democrats doing the same thing now.
I think you and BrainGlutton are missing the point. I’m not here to argue this issue…it’s the wrong thread for that. The point is that it IS a matter of opinion, and to claim that you believe it isn’t is disingenuous.
Do you have a cite for this? I don’t doubt that her reaction to the attack is recorded somewhere or that she mentioned her daughter living in the city, I’m just wondering what she lied about.
Well, as long as those who believe this also believe any politician who actually has an affair isn’t fit for office, not to mention any president who isn’t aware of the actions of his own elected officials or elected official who isn’t aware of the actions of his staff or, say, soldiers.
This seems to be SOP in the “How can anyone dislike Hillary” threads. You can give a dozen reasons you personally don’t much care for her, and 2 of them will be relentlessly attacked, hijacking the thread and further demonstrating that Clinton Democrats are as close minded and reactionary as Bush Republicans.
Oh come on. If someone gives a bullpoop reason that’s based on a lie aren’t you supposed to refute it? Is the purpose of this thread to assemble a hate Hillary laundry list? If so have a mod move it to IMHO.
It’s perfectly acceptable to point out when someone posts a lying piece of propaganda as a reason for hating Hillary in the Why the Hatred of Hillary thread.
Well, it started in IMHO, didn’t it?
Refute the other reasons and maybe I’d care. If the best Clintonites can respond with is “She didn’t steal any furniture!”, that doesn’t help people who feel like this -
No, better to focus on the occasional Foster reference, because that has so little to do with the majority of the comments here.
The far right keeps bringing the conspiracy theories up, the far left keeps freaking out about them, and the rest of us decide both are loonies and vote for …
… Well, someone, I guess. I’ll let you know in a year or so.
She’s a bitch. Does anyone really feel they know the real Hillary? She seems so stiff and fake. Plus her sham of a marriage to Bill. The fact that she ran for Congress in New York and WON! WTF??!?! Never did figure that one out. What does Hillary have to do with New York?
Comments like this make me worried (unless it’s a whoosh). Worried because I’ve heard it before, and maybe I’m crazy but while a certain amount of charm is nice in a president, I do not need to have a freaking beer with the person. I don’t WANT to have a beer with them. I want them to run the country. Well.
And ‘bitch’ is just too easy (and common) an insult for Hillary. It’s become clichéd and rather pathetic. Call her an idiot or a jerk for some tangible reason, maybe something more than her being cuckolded or winning an election.
