Why the vehement opposition to pineapple on pizza?

The key here is that pineapple and ham is a lousy pizza combination. It should be pineapple and pepperoni. Add some red pepper flake and you will have gustatory Heaven.

And yes, fruit needs to be eaten warm as well as cold, and apple pie demands a slice of sharp cheddar cheese! So let it be written. So let it be done.

I don’t mind it. I’ve never ordered one for myself, but if someone does I’m not gonna get offended by it.

I will, however, hand pick ALL green peppers and mushrooms off of a pizza, even if I didn’t order it myself.

Pineapple and ham is fine for pizza. But you are right, pepperoni (or bacon) is better. I haven’t tried adding jalapeno to the mix – it seems so obvious to me in retrospect – but next time I’m in a pineapple mood, I’ll try it. My usual order, though, is either plain sausage, or sausage-onion-green pepper-mushroom if I’m more in a “special” pizza mood. (Most pizzerias around here have that combo or 3/4 of that combo as their “special” or “deluxe” or whtaver.) I don’t normally like pepperoni on my pizza, but I like it with pineapple.

I forgot I don’t like cranberry sauce with turkey, either (along with applesauce on pork). Pineapple on pizza is fine, though.

Oh, yes, a good sharp cheddar cheese and apple pie is a delicious combination.

Cheesecake is a “sweet and tart fruit on a salty dish”? You’re gonna have to explain that.

Not literally like that, but the cheese part is not truly sweet. Together with chocolate, cake dough, etc., it just doesn’t taste right to me.

I just thought of another savory item often paired with pineapple: cottage cheese.

love pineapple on pizza, pineapple on hamburgers and bacon, even dont mind pineapple in a creaser salad

What does San Francisco have to do with any of that post?

How do they keep the three flavors of ice cream from melting into each other?

Someone here on the Dope turned me on to pineapple and anchovies on pizza, it’s awesome.

I don’t know, why do you ask?

It was a joke about the ice cream.

I dunno, you’re the one who brought up “The City” (which rather famously, means San Francisco).

I would not have known that… If somebody said “the City” with no other contextual clues I would probably think NYC.

“The City” does not “rather famously” refer to San Francisco with no other clues that is what’s being talked about. Especially when the same statement goes on to specifically mention New York.

Pretty much only to people in and around San Francisco.

Seems I’m surrounded by provincial folks…
