You guys haven’t topped this sighting from Customers Suck. EW Parking Pwnage
Why on Earth would anyone park in the cart corral if they were trying to “protect” their car?
That’s just asking for it!
I just saddle up next to them.
And don’t forget the bumper stickers!
Seriously? Door dings from inconsiderate drivers are a reality parking at the end hurts nobody. Why do something like this just to be a prick?
I hope it makes you feel really cool, because that’s just about as dickish as the two-spot move.
I hate when somebody parks their motorcycle in a parking space! Don’t flame me, I ride a bike.
It’s just that it’s a waste of a space for a car, since a bike can park pretty much anywhere, usually really close to the store. A lot of parking lots around here have angled parking, which leaves two wedge shaped spots at the beginning of every aisle. Too small for any car, but a bike can fit no problem.
Actually, there’s lot’s of weird places to park a bike, that may not be legal, but they are so small and not in the way that I have never had any legal trouble. I figure that I am doing the car parkers a favor by leaving a full size spot open for them.
Yes, to be a dick - and with the rarely accompanying reward of a little extra exercise to walk farther to the entrance.
I’ve owned four cars in my life, parked like a normal human at stores, and the only ding I ever got was in my own driveway from a drunk pedestrian. It’s an exaggerated problem, and I find it hilarious that people park in the boonies just in case - whether it’s a 98 Buick Skylark or some four-wheeled toy.
Ah, but you started it and deserve what you get.
I didn’t see that drastic_quench actually dings the other doors; he just parks next to them.
Besides, how common is door dinging? Maybe on some Koren car with 0.40 mm steel and no cladding, but most cars have protection from other doors, and most people are considerate. That, plus, you know, cars are machines. Who the hell even cares if your vehicle has a ding or two?
Wait, what? For the record I don’t ding doors. Remember kids, don’t do what Donnie Don’t does.
I’ve taken up 4 spaces before. Needed to stop at a store to pick up drinks and snacks but had to park the truck and boat somewhere…
Ok, good job being a dick, I guess. I bet you pulled that “I’m not touching you” shit all the time as a kid.
It’s common enough that everyone I know has had it happen at least once. If you take even the slightest bit of pride in keeping your things nice looking, or would really rather not pay to fix damage you didn’t cause, a dent is not a favorable situation. Whether exaggerated or not, what’s the harm in precaution?
Also good to know that there is a specific way a “normal human” should park.
Yeah, right next to the hundreds of others: the established norm.
Were they backed in?
So why don’t you actually do that, instead of parking next to the one outcast loser car on the wrong side of the parking lot?
Actually, it’s fairly common, especially on newer model cars, given all of the new lightweight material new vehicles are using now, regardless of manufacturer.
I have a few dents on each side of my car and I wish they weren’t there. They’re just ugly.
And, yeah, cars are just machines, but they’re still your property. You do care about the condition of your property, right?
If I was a guest in your home and I had a super ice cold glass of water with condensation all over it, and I set it down onto your newly finished kitchen table, without a coaster, and let it sit there for most of the day, it’d probably warp and/or discolor the wood. But who cares, right? It’s just a piece of wood.
Just a bit of experience…
I once pulled into a parking space. Not far from the store, and there was an empty space beside me. As soon as I pulled in, another car pulled into the empty space. Before I could get out, that car’s doors flew open, and hit my car. Wham! Wham! When its passengers got out, and I could get out to inspect my car–and its new dents–I brought the fact that the passengers’ doors had hit and damaged my car to the driver’s attention.
“Well, they’re just kids. What can you do?” the driver of the other car said, shrugging his shoulders and walking off. And the passengers were indeed kids, none older than 12, most likely. It was obvious that Driver didn’t care what his Kid passengers did to other vehicles.
So I steamed. I waited until Driver and Kids were all on their way to the mall. Then I wound up and kicked their car in the passenger side.
Well, that day, I had steel-toed boots on. Damn shame, but what can you do?
Made a f-----g nice dent.
Really? Parking your car in a marked spot in such a way as to cause no damage to any other vehicles is dickish, just because it happens to be next to another car?
Get over yourself.
This always happens to me! I park my Mini Cooper waaay out there, no other cars around, come back and there is always a huge SUV next to me!
In the past I’ve tried end spots and moving as close to the curb as I can, but I have found that huge vehicles still park next to me and disregard the parking lot lines, meaning my car is in their door dong zone. They will take up every single inch I’ve given up to keep my car safe…so I just do the park in the outer limits thing.
I care about door dings. I like to keep my car looking nice and I prefer to park way out in lots where there are no other cars. That way I also don’t have to deal with traffic that tends to be the worst in the closer areas of the lots.
Willfully obtuse, nice. It’s pretty clear from the position of the first car what its owner’s intent is, and it’s crystal clear from drastic_quench what his intent is.
His stated intent is to be dickish. He has said as much. So yeah, it’s a dick move.
