Sorry to drag this post back to the OP, but H8 has a point; when I see Masterson’s posts, and before it the Loverock and many others, I look at them, think “what a dickhead” and move on; why people feel the need to get on line and waste 10 seconds of their time replying to a post like that is a mystery to me. Everyone knows, “Don’t feed the Trolls” because that’s what they want, and then everybody gets on the thread and feeds the Troll. This cliquish I Am Telling You That You Are A Troll And That You Don’t Belong Here With Us is more than a little remeniscent of shoolyard insecurity. I can’t be too upset about Micheal because he reminds me of my son. My son has been tested and found to be “gifted” (IQ 142, not that I’m bragging), but he is a smart assed know-it-all, which is quite insufferable in a 12 year old. If I allowed my son to post he’d probably be just as, if not more, annoying.
So Michael is either a very bright 12 year old or a sub-moranic adult.

Well, after much debate, I guess I should answer this one…
Revtim, there was a purpose to that thread. You see, a month or so earlier, I issued an open challenge to play Dopers in Scrabble. I started a half dozen or so games, and promptly destroyed all of their wills to live.
You see, I’m pretty good at this game.
Now, Drainey has been learning, and she beat me twice (and also played some very competitive losses recently as well), and I was hoping this but of information would give other people a reason to maybe play me again.
It worked, as I have two new games I’m playing now.
So, unless you would like for me to kick YOUR ass in Scrabble, I suggest you not comment on threads which you obviously don’t know the background of.

Satan, the reason I mentioned your thread was because MM was being criticised for starting boring threads. My point was that lots of people start boring threads in MPSIMS (which is pretty much what it’s for, I thought), but for some reason MM was singled for flamage.
I have no problem with your Scrabble thread, it just seemed a perfect example of one that sounded uninteresting. And now that I know the background, guess what? I still don’t give half a fuck about your Scrabble skills. But everybody should be able to start whatever boring-ass thread they want in this board without being flamed, not just the popular posters.
And also, I’ll comment on whatever the hell I feel like commenting on.

One one hand I feel sorry for him. He just doesn’t get it… It would be so easy just to re-register with a new name and be less hate-inspiring, but he just keeps digging himself deeper and deeper.
On the other hand he amuses me. It may be wrong to make mirth at the expense of the socially retarded, but he BEGS for it endlessly!! He reminds me of those guys in Jr. High who were just a little too interested in D&D. Besides, as I’ve said elsewhere, look at all the activity he has created.
