Umm… you might want to check that link… (Lemur asshole eh? You’re into that kind of thing?)
It was a TIC response to the response to my post asking for a cite. I was somewhat shocked that putting those search terms into Google got 362 hits.
I placed in the top ten in a ‘Run over 8,000 meters’ event at UMASS Dartmouth. Seeing as I was in Havre, Montana at the time, I find that fairly impressive.
There is also a racing greyhound that uses my first name.
There are a lot of hotels that use the full form of my first name, and a saint whose nickname is the same as my real last name.
There is a porn site that uses my last name in its title.
I also run a magazine in the Philippines.
Google is fun.

My SDMB handle got my homepage in the fifth link from the top (not counting the indented link). Very cool, seeing as its free, unadvertised, and generally pretty lame.
http://www.derleth.de/ -I don’t even speak German.
RedRiverRadio.com is for sale | HugeDomains -Wally Derleth, host of Big Band Jump / Evening Jazz. A jolly fellow.
http://www.google.com/search?q=cache:4WYD0Cits3w:medibuy.com/news/news_press_article.jsp+Derleth&hl=xx-bork -Jim Derleth, President of the division of medibuy that will handle distribution for Accu Bite Dental Supply. Pretty damn exciting.
http://www.fws.gov/r5lcfwro/Wild.html -Eric Derleth, of the US Fish & Wildlife Service at the Lake Champlain Fish & Wildlife Resources Office.
Of course, most hits on my handle point to my namesake, August Derleth, friend of H. P. Lovecraft.

GilaB turns up some stuff in French and a lot of different gastrointestinal (GI) labs, which wasn’t exactly what I was shooting for when I chose my username.
I get three hits when I search my real name (it’s uncommon), and all have to do with me. One is the website of a kid with whom I went to a giften youth summer program some years back who listed his classmates. The second is from this summer, when a friend working in a newspaper was writing about this summer program and interviewed me about it. The third is section assignments for a class I’m really taking… how dull of me.
My brother, on the other hand, is an eminent genetics professor in his spare time. Who knew?
MPSIMS, anyone?
BTW, if you put:
yourname, city, state
into Google, it does a white page search and may come up with your phone number.
Man, and I thought it was strange when I began to see how much of his own life my son had when he was two. Seeing my real name out there, attached to pieces of writing I had not thought of in years is stunning. I literally did not recognize them at first. Only 75 hits, though, and nothing bizarre or amusing. <sigh>
Yondan is far more common, though. No surprise.
I’m a doctor and author!
"HMS '68 and a cardiologist at MaineGeneral Medical Center…has given public readings of his short stories across the country "

Did the google search under both my maiden and married names. FWIW both last names are unusual at best and my first name is weird, too.
Only a few references pulled up, all legitimatly associated with work. Nobody else popped up as sharing the same combination of first/last name(s).
Cool! I’m still obscure!
Veb
TVeblen,we KNOW you areReally Lemur867…

My real name came back with 248 hits on Google. Among other things, I’m a fictional character in a romance novel and a fictional character on an old TV show.
I guess this means I don’t really exist.
I’m an actor in Ontario (I played an insurance adjuster in one episode of Psi Factor), graduated from British Columbia Institute of Technology in 1980 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism, a champion bowler in Beloit, WI, and I died as an infant in 1963.
There are also a couple of links which are really me: postings I made to the Railroad.net message fora.
I think I may have finally tracked down the bastard who took the name “Ooner” at AOL, yahoo, hotmail, audiogalaxy, and all the rest. I’ve searched google a million times, but this time, I found something interesting:
Now I know what I have to do…
