Did you post this with a straight face?
I don’t speak on anyone’s behalf but my own, and if you have a problem with mods correcting themselves in a timely manner that’s your personal problem, not mine.
Can you link to that warning, I must have missed it.
(The fact that she didn’t receive a warning is what caused these two threads to pop up)
A mod warning? That sounds fairly serious. I’m surprised I missed it. Perhaps you’d be so kind as to point it out to me?
You’re right-it was a rebuke, not an Official Warning, much like others receive for similar offenses.
So… she rebuked herself?
Okay, tiger. Whatever you say. But I have to admit that I don’t understand how any of your posts in this thread can be construed as being on your own behalf. Unless you’re busting your ass trying to get back into that mod loop.
I don’t have a problem with mods “correcting themselves in a timely manner,” if that’s indeed the case. But I’ve never seen twickster do such a thing, so I can’t comment on this part of your post.
You’ll note that two of us upthread have noted that we got Warnings on the first offense for similar actions, due to our longstanding memberships indicating we should know better.
Why, I wonder, is dear Twickster not held to the same standard?
Yes, she did. Gave herself a Mod Note, actually.
Wow. Gave herself a Mod Note and everything. That’ll learn her.
Jesus fucking Christ.
I just wonder if the next person to use the word twat in MPSIMS will get an actual warning? Seems that a precedent has been set here regarding sanctions for that.
What we are wondering is why another mod didn’t do the honors. In the history of the SDMB has a mod ever given themselves a warning?
This is the problem - Twickster giving herself a note is like the earlier thread where she snapped off at someone, and handwaved it away with “I had a headache and was in a bad mood. I’m sorry”
It’s pretty meaningless to have rules if mods can circumvent them by knowingly breaking them, then issuing themselves a “note” or saying “Oh, my bad” a few posts later. “Oh, she was rebuked a few posts later” doesn’t fly because she should know the rules, as someone who is responsible for upholding them. As has already been mentioned, if long-time posters get harsher sanctions because “they should know better” then surely mods should be held to higher standards yet again?
Sadly, nothing you say surprises me anymore.
“I’m The Dude Playing the Dude Disguised as Another Dude”
I’m a little surprised that TubaDiva hasn’t popped in to let us know why she closed the other thread. It’s a pretty normal ATMB question that the mods usually address pretty well.
You don’t understand do you? I am talking of a culture, not a post.
And I do have enough confidence and respect in Ed and Dex to believe that they do actually look at a thread like this as time permits.
Have a nice day.
This. I always feel a sort of mild surprise whenever people express surprise at the latest mod fuckup.
Some mods are good, some are ok, some (like twickster) have a shitty attitude and a palpable disdain for the board membership. Since Tuba and Ed have, for at least the last several years, exhibited even shittier attitudes and even more disdain for the board membership, the idea that there will be any official response or rebuke is unlikely. Do you think board management actually reads or gives a crap about your complaints? This is how it is, guys. It’s not changing until someone pulls the plug.
Also, Czarcasm - you’re not making anyone look good. Not yourself, with your increasingly ridiculous posts in these threads, and certainly not the mods.
Right…and it’s a culture formed as a cult of personality around a smart, snarky, sarcastic and occasionally insulting “author”. Why is it surprising to you that the resulting culture is smart, snarky, sarcastic and occasionally insulting?
Because the “insulting” part is supposed to be only in the Pit.

Shodan
