It would also be nice if posters paid attention to what actually was posted.
While TubaDiva is the primary Mod in ATMB, several of us share the responsibility of looking in from time to time to be sure that discussions of staff activity are treated in the manner of GD threads and not Pit threads.
It is irrelevant whether Q.E.D. was referring to me. His post was a Pit-like snide shot that did not actually address the issues of the thread, simply being a pile-on post to take a cheap shot at a Mod. Cheap shots are permitted, but they belong in the Pit.
All I did was tell him to mind his manners in this Forum.
For exercising my responsibilities, I was challenged by three separate posters. Again, there is no rule against that. However, two of the posters made references to an ongoing discussion in which I have been involved and you now characterize my response as if I was changing the subject.
Point by point:
-
Your first paragraph is silly. You recently started one more thread attacking the behavior of the staff–a topic that generally finds some number of posters submitting pro and con statements (see, for example, this thread), but which, in your thread, resulted in an overwhelming (nearly unanimous) declaration by all participants that your point had no merit. I understand your desire to assume that all those who supported your position simply did not happen to read the thread or give voice to their support for your position, but the history of the board, in which there is generally a lively interaction between those who support or condemn the staff, would seem to indicate that your assumption is baseless.

Your second paragraph clearly misstates the event. As I have noted, I do not have to be the subject of a post to intervene, moderating the behavior of posters who have stepped over the line. I made no attack on the poster and I did not criticize his cryptic and unhelpful opinion. I simply told him that a particular behavior was better suited to the Pit. (Note that the poster had already submitted several posts in which he had actually argued a point and that I did not make any effort to silence him or even contradict him; I addressed only his rude behavior.)
2a) I have already addressed the notion that I was changing the subject. -
Your accusation of “circling the wagons” in this case is silly and irrelevant. The first few Mod responses were to a specific question asked or point made. There was no overwhelming Mod invasion with multiple (and even conflicting) Mod claims that attacked the OP in the first hours after the thread was opened. Instead, there were a series of posts by different Mods addressing separate issues that arose organically in the thread. I have made no comment on the topic of the OP or made any effort to silence any poster who has posted an actual argument or discussion point regarding the OP. I simply told one poster to behave himself in this forum–not even Warning him for his behavior or telling him he could no longer post, here. I did note–after he hostilely reacted to my Mod intervention–that his behavior was consistent with other behavior in which he has engaged for which he has been admonished. However, that was only for the purpose of calling attention to behavior (not opinions) that have already been deemed to violate the rules of the board.
