Any particular reason why this informative and entertaining thread was killed? Hard to tell when the joke upon closing is more important than, you know, providing an explanation.
Maybe if someone shoves a dime up samclem’s ass, he’ll reopen the thread?
Well you now how it is toilets are amount defecation and then you get jokes about shit and then somebody brings up George Bush and then soemone calls someone else a nazi and then someone’s personal information is revealed and then someone threatens someone with physical violence and before you know it someone is dead.
Better to stop all that before it even can get started. Right?
Moderating here does not seem to have any rhyme or reason here. Is it all at the whim of the moderator?
Ah yes, the dreaded slippery slope leading to a slippery slope. Best not to talk about talking about it.
In case anyone cares, I thought I heard recently that the leadership of the City of New York is mulling over the pay toilet option. So I doubt it’s unconstitutional.
Uh oh. Does anyone have change?
Nope. Pee on the slope. Maybe that’s why it’s so slippery.
I’m guessing that samclem closed the thread because the question had been answered and the thread was veering into anecdote territory.
If that’s so:
[ul]
[li] He could have said so.[/li]
[li] While the original question may have been answered, the ensuing discussion was still informative and mostly factual.[/li]
[li] Even if he still thinks the thread’s no longer GQ material, why not just move it to MPSIMS or IMHO? People were talkin’ there, for pete’s sake.[/li][/ul]
If that’s not why samclem closed the thread, then I don’t have any idea why.
Dammit, I can’t find the coinslot in my hard drive.
I’m sorry, I should’ve added thist my first post here:
…And there’s not a DAMN thing you can do about it!
I thought it was a witty comment. As for the closing, I can’t say. Maybe Otto should have just started another thread about it? God only knows.
Because the thread started out as a GQ, and was answered as a GQ. Porting a thread to MPSIMS just because some people want to blather after the facts are in would corrupt the mundane and pointless essence of MPSIMS.
Actually, the blathering, such as it was, came in the middle of the thread. There were still factual posts being made. Besides, I’ve seen many GQ threads with FAR more blathering go on and on, and never locked.
Presumably samclem and his balls will be along at some point to confirm or deny your guess. Assuming for the sake of argument you are correct (and based on some other arbitrary closings he’s done recently it’s not a bad guess), so freaking what if a GQ thread veers into anecdote?
This has been a pretty bad week for mods.
The mods generally have the sense to at least say “asked and answered” when they’re locking a thread for that reason. And even then, the fact that the question has been answered isn’t always the reason for locking a thread like that.
Holy shit! A mod closed a thread! I refuse to accept this! I’m leaving!
Maybe nobody remembered to ask permission to start a pay toilet thread.
I was actually in the middle of posting when it went down.
As I said there, San Francisco has pay toilet units, so it is definitely not illegal across the US by order of the Supreme Court. But I know NYC has struggled with the concept.
But I guess I’ll never know if there exists an actual pay *toilet * (as in the porcelain goddess herself) anywhere and how that might work. (Would you pay for a lid to lift? The toilet to flush? And even then, couldn’t you still use it? Eww.)
Good. Don’t let the stall door hit you in the ass on your way out.
I’m unsure as to why you felt the need to crap in the Xmas exchange thread, but I’m really unsure why you felt the need to repeat your pathetic performance here. If you’re fine with Mods closing threads for no apparent reason and get this irritated when people dare to question them, then for the sake of your own health stay out of such threads.
