We have a non-so-smart tv. We use a Firestick for streaming. We use several streaming services, e.g. Netflix, Hulu, Max, Prime, etc. They all work very smoothly except for Hulu. When we watch anything on Hulu, it keeps on buffering, stopping, starting, and generally making us crazy while we watch a program. I’ve restarted the Firestick. We’ve turned off all the devices in the house. I’ve stopped the program to let it catch up. Nothing seems to help. I would like to have an understanding of why it happens only with Hulu and mainly, what we might do to eliminate this aggravating problem. Dopers?
Does Hulu stream normally on other devices in your house?
Have you tried deleting the Hulu app from the Firestick and then reinstalling it?
You could also check the settings in Hulu to see if you’re streaming at a bitrate higher than your internet service is capable of if you have particularly slow internet service.
I get the same issue with Hulu, on my Roku, whenever I try to watch Futurama.
I deleted the app and re-downloaded it to no avail. Our internet speed is not the problem, either. I’m in the midst of talking with Hulu, but I can tell by their website that buffering is a problem for lots of people. I’ll keep at it and if I find a way to solve it, I’ll report back. Thanks, dopers.
It could be the Firestick. I’ve had several Firesticks go wonky on me before dying altogether. They definitely seem to have a shelf life.
It also couldn’t hurt to go to “about this device” in the settings. Is it a Gen 2 or Gen 3 Firestick? I think the Gen 2s have issues with some apps.
