December and January – the touring production of the show will be here!!
I can’t wait. I love this show. (I should say I love the music – I expect to love the show!) I wish I could have seen Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel in it, but ya can’t have everything.
The Kennedy Center is also doing Mame with Christine Baranski in the title role. Hmmm… Not sure I see that, but perhaps I’m being unfair to Ms. Baranski. I can’t see her in the role that Angela Landsbury defined.
And the Kirov Opera Company will be doing Parsifal AND Turandot. That should rock. I’m a big Puccini fan; I’ve seen about twenty different productions of Turandot over the years.
Up north, the Baltimore Opera people are disappointing me this coming season, They’re doing La Traviata and La Boheme (great pieces, but c’mon…), La Sonnambula - good for them; this is adventurous… and then “Dead Man Walking,” an opera based on the novel. Um… maybe I’m too old-fashioned, but… no.
