I heard this riddle the other day. It’s kind of like a pyschological profile. After I get a good number of answers, i’ll post the solution.
If you’ve allready heard it , don’t post the answer.
A woman’s brother dies. She goes to the funeral and sees a man she’s never seen before in her life. She doesn’t know what his connection to her brother is. She is absolutly smitten with him. By the time she worked up the nerve to talked to him he had already left.
Several weeks later the womans sister dies and she is arrested for murder. What was her motive?
The man she’s smitten with has NOTHING to do with it. Read the story, leaving out the unknown hunk. Woman has a brother and a sister. The brother’s snuffed, then the sister’s snuffed.
Woman stands to inherit their estates. Maybe she used the same method to snuff 'em both.
IMO, the bit about the mystery guy is a red herring.
I think there’s a a varient where the woman is a psycho…something about “The guy showed up at her brother’s funeral, so if she kills her sister, he’ll show up again at HER funeral.” but I don’t think this is the same one. Even if it is, my solution’s just as valid as the “psycho” solution as both require information not provided in the original question. I think the correct version of the “psycho” one starts off with “A woman leaves a hospital and upon release goes to her brother’s funeral…” but without the “hospital” (mental hospital…geddit?) there’s no clue that she’s insane.
No no Fenris. You’ve got it all wrong. The man is obviously a crucial part to the murder mystery.
Let’s call the woman A, the sister B, the brother C and the mysterious stranger D.
D was actually B in disguise. B always had forbidden incestuous lust for A, and figured that she would prey upon A’s distraught state at the funeral of C to seduce her icognita. However B realized that her disguise was not good enough to fool A, so she fled in terror of A’s wrath. A figured out the truth and killed B in a fit of pique.
(The surprising conclusion: after A was released from the psychiatric ward, she formed a polyamorous group with W, X, Y, and Z, and they all lived happily ever after.)
The woman killed the sister in hopes of seeing the man again.
Even though the article was insightfull, Opus1 obviosly didn’t read the OP
sorry, that just really ticks me off. the point of a riddle is for people who don’t allready know the answer to try and guess, not for somebody who’s allready heard it to post a link to it, exspecially without a spoiler warning.
It was good to know that it was just a hoax, but how about posting that link after I posted the answer? Or at least put a spoiler warning on it.
sandlefeet,
What exactly did opus do wrong? He did the equivelant of saying “I know the answer, and I’m not going to tell you, but I WILL tell you how to get the answer”. That pretty much matches the definition of a spoiler alert to me. Maybe nextime time he needs to put a link in spoiler tags so that even the link to the answer is hidden.
Wasn’t there a thread about this just two weeks or so ago? It was posited as some kind of pop-psychology test to see if you’ve got the serial-killer metality.
