After watching “The Fifth Element” last night (Not the best movie but I was to tired to leave my desk to look for the remote) I got to say these aliens known as Mondoshawan are probably the wierdest aliens I have seen. And that includes the MIB aliens!
Well, the Alien from Alien was pretyy weird.

Robin Williams, Moscow on the Hudson.
Heh. The chick in the Species movies got progressively weirder, with nipple tentacles and whatnot, all based on the rather icky artwork of H.R. Giger.
The Alien aliens have my vote. Brilliant work by Giger. I was never too impressed by his Species designs, maybe because it was so hard to get past how stunningly bad the movie was (despite the luscious Natasha Henstridge nudity).
My favorite weird-looking alien in pop culture would be the silicon creature on an old episode of Star Trek (looks sort of like a furry meatloaf)…and Dr. Who managed to come up with a pretty damn weird (if pretty damn silly) looking alien every week…but that’s TV…
How bout those vulture-lookin’ critters in The Dark Crystal?
The hammer-headed alien in the cantina, in the original Star Wars.
The impish beachball in Dark Star has to be the oddest looking, if that what you mean by weirdest.
IIRC (it’s been years since I saw this) there is a scene in The Thing where the Thing manifests itself in a severed human head that sprouts spider like legs. Consderably weirder than a man in a rubber suit.
In Alien I think the Space Jockey (can’t find a good link) is at least as weird as the Alien.
Several weirdos in Galaxy Quest, the Rock Monster maybe?
The tanked Guildsman in David Lynche’s Dune is pretty strange, but that would be the weirdest human wouldn’t it?
My vote would be for Skywhales from the animated short of that name, or any number of creatures from the (also animated) movie Fantastic Planet.
If you watch the opening credits for the 1988 version of Not of this Earth, you see scenes that aren’t in the movie at all – they’re from earlier Roger Corman works of art. One of these scenes (and I still can’t find out which movie it’s from – not even the IMDB helps) shows a fight between two monsters. Pretty common bad sci-fi fare, right? Except that these two monsters look very suspiciously like stylized genitals, so you get a pair of aliens shaped lik a penis and a vagina in mock interciourse.
Easily the weirdest aliens I’ve ever seen.
Not aliens as in creatures from another planet, but the animations in the film of Pink Floyd’s The Wall are some of the most alien and wierd beings in any film.
The jacked humanoid squid-headed things in Hellboy were pretty freakin weird as were their enormous “mama” from another universe (or whatever it was).
Hellboy the movie (I haven’t read the books) seems to be channelling H. P. Lovecraft’s inventions pretty deliberately. You oughta read more HPL.
From TV, the Crystalline Entity. Basically a ginormous sentient snowflake.
From a movie, V’Ger from Star Trek: The Motion Picture. This thing is so weird lookin’ I can’t get a good shot to link to. Just go see the movie.
The demons would be Samael. He seems to be based on Lovecraft’s Deep Ones, but with a bunch of extra cephalopod thrown in. That was not their mama. It was the effect of all that contact between you-know-who and the Ogdru Jahad. I’m positive it was based on the Worm in Robert E Howard’s Valley Of The Worm. Howard and Lovecraft were friends, and Howard wrote a few stories set in the Cthulu Mythos.
Back To The Op
Definitely Doctor Who- Oh, let’s say The Vervoids Killer plant people. Their heads are supposed to be flowers. Instead, they look like penises. Their mouths are verticle slits, surrounded by a patch of hair like growth. Yes, plant monsters with penis heads, and vaginas for mouths. They can also breathe out a poisonous smoke. Plant monsters with penis heads, and killer smoking vaginas for mouths.
When I think of alien weirdness the first image that pops into my head is from a mid-'80s remake of a classic '50s film. (Invaders From Mars?) The chief alien is wearing a leisure suit.
I like looking at the aliens, I wonder if thats how anyone actually believes an alien would look. Check out “The Vervoids” that DocCathode brought to my attention. Can anyone actually believe in such a thing or our people just trying to make the wierdest looking alien.
Though I noticed that the Vervoids are not really aliens as much as manufactured? But wierd for sure.
As for the Alien, alien I found that to be less wierd and more scary?
I got some good googling trying to ID some of the aliens mentioned but I still think my OP’s alien is the funkiest wierd alien that I have seen and remembered. Something to do with the huge body and tiny little head.
Dennis Rodman. Weirdest alien in movies or on TV!
I found the ones from the recent “war of the worlds” movie to be the most disturbing I’ve seen. I think it was the three legged thing…
Bipeds with funky faces and godzilla like features have been overdone.
