Wife Swap: Arizona Lesbian and Texas Tighty Righty

I don’t watch this show, but someone I know alerted me to tonight’s episode. I think I might brave it.
from the ABC site:

It’s either going to be a trainwreck or life-changing for all involved.

I’ve watched a few of them. They do a good job matching families – slobs and clean freaks, carnivores and vegetarians, agnostics and devout Christians. Sometimes they learn from each other, but other times they go home with their behavior reinforced.

This one should be fun.

So the wife from Texas will be “married” to another woman? Interesting…I mgiht watch.

Sounds interesting, keep us informed.

I am so there.

Quotes from Mrs. Tighty-Righty
“It’s excellent to be [me].”
“Excellence is a journey, and I hope to learn to be more efficient and more excellent.”
“This is a very discriminatory household…” in reference to the lesbian couple.

BWAHAHA!

so far, I’m torn between contemptuous laughter and wanting to strangle that bigoted Christian. “You could pretend not to be gay”–hey, she could slap on white face and pretend not to be black. “It’s in the Bible”–well, so is slavery.

It’s a good thing that I know that there are nice Christians.

I really hate Black Republicans.

Wow.

Don’t fundie Christians ever feel embarrassed by their lack of humanity?

The Right-wing mother really came off poorly. The kids and even the husband seemed to have been positively affected, the daughter especially. But that mother was just a horrible, hateful, conceited bitch. I love how they use Jesus to justify their wealth. I thought he was practically an ascetic.

Because they disagree with you or because you just don’t like black people?

Marc

That was the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen one person do to another. (Lately, anyway.)

Where do people get such stupid ideas? Actually, two stupid ideas. One from Mrs. Gillespie insinuating that her 12-year-old daughter was in danger of being preyed upon during the swap, and the other from Nikki, saying that 1% of lesbians are sexual predators.

Are there any lesbian predators? (Besides Anne Heche, I mean.)

I felt really, really, really bad for the husband, who just looked so damn tired…like years of being married to that harpy have just worn him down to the nub. Seems he’d be a decent, if a bit dull, guy but for his choice of spouses.

No, she said less than 1% of predators are lesbians.

That was really depressing and disgusting. Talk about a woman that should’ve been shaken more as a baby. She couldn’t be more judgmental if she tried. :frowning:

I cannot stomach this show. My wife is into crap TV; it’s one of those “guilty pleasure” things. She claims “it’s so bad it’s good”, but I think she’s just fascinated by the lurid spectacle, which is disappointing, though hardly uncommon. The episode I watched made me squirm for the full 15 minutes I could stand it, and then I had to run out of the room. The OP’s coupling sounds positively excruciating. I would have crawled out of my skin.

BTW, did harpie fundamentalist mom ever actually say lesbians were “sexual predators”? I heard her say they were immoral, which is pretty bad but not quite the same thing, and then one of the lesbian moms started yelling about molestation percentages. Did I miss something?

Neither. I consider myself a democrat, but I don’t hate republicans, nor do I disagree with them all the time. I am black, and I don’t dislike black people. I just find most black republicans more distasteful than the average person. This is for a number of reasons, but I don’t what to hijack this thread.

Doesn’t that awful republican banshee have any sense of hypocricy? Her family is sitting on excess millions and she just spews hatred wherever she goes. How very Christian of her! God, I wish I had some way to console the couple from Arizona, I feel just awful for them, the way that woman treated them both.

This could actually be a very good thing.

Maybe folks with certain beliefs will see this, and either realize what they’ve been like, or realize what their religion/party has become associated with and work to reduce that scourge.
