I was reading this tread about Coldfire leaving for a couple weeks and I got to thinking. I am leaving and won’t be back till after Labor day. Will anybody miss me?!?? I have a feeling that you guys won’t. That brings tears to my eyes. You guys are a great bunch and I would like to contribute more to the SDMB but I feel my posts just don’t have the power that they need to become classic.
This is the first MB that I have ever been a member to so I have very little experience, but I see that I have a problem and I am trying to fix it. If you guys could give me some hints to become a better poster or even if one of the established poster would like to take me under their wing and tutor me on a Art of Posting that would be one of the greatest gifts anybody has given me.
Well thanks for hearing me out and maybe next time I take an extended leave I will be missed.
One more thing ** Wally ** if you are up there give me guidance that I need so I can get a couple steps closer to your greatness.
Best advice I can give you: be a decent human being. Know when to pursue something and when to let it go. Don’t be an asshole. Try to find a cite if you’re going to stake a claim about something . . . it makes you more credible. Keep flaming to the pit. Don’t be an asshole. Remember that we are all different and won’t necessarily agree with you, nor are you under any obligation to agree with us.
Try to respect the people you feel deserve it, and try to find some good thing about everyone.
Have fun. Seriously . . . if for nothing else, this board exists for its members to have fun. And fight ignorance. But mostly have fun
I wouldn’t worry too much about being missed. It’s not because you are or aren’t a good poster. It’s just that there are SO many people that post to the board and so many threads going on at one time that it is not easy to watch to see if a poster is off the board or not. Most people don’t realize someone has left until they come back and post an ‘I’m back’ thread.
Pretty much just post what you feel. Realize that some people will like you and some people won’t. Nothing wrong with that either.
You didn’t say why you were leaving the board, but keep safe and take care.
