Will Archie Griffin ever make it into the Pro Football HoF?

Great college career; not so much in the NFL. Does he have a shot?

His great career at Ohio State is reflected in his presence in the College Football Hall of Fame; the Pro Football Hall of Fame solely recognizes professional careers.

As for that pro career:

7 years with the Bengals, but was never their full-time starter at running back (only 9 career starts). 2808 career rushing yards, never ran for more than 688 yards in a season, 7 career rushing touchdowns (plus 6 career receiving touchdowns). Never went to a Pro Bowl, never was named All-Pro.

In short: not a chance.

No

There is certainly a long line of candidates ahead of him.

If he got in there would be more NFL HOF’ers than there are residents of Canton, OH.

Just off the top of my head, I could probably name 100 running backs who had better pro careers than Archie Griffin.

No, he has no shot at getting into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and he himself would surely adcknowledge that he doesn’t deserve to be enshrined there.

For that matter, there are loads of Cincinnati Bengals players who deserve it far more than Archie Griffin. Why isn’t Ken Anderson in??? After that, Isaac Curtis and Tim Krumrie are both better candidates than Griffin.

Normally I would say no, but then again, he played for Ohio State, so he has 4 more years of pro experience than most players with his resume.

:: heavy sigh ::

Yeah, about what I thought. Thanks.
