Lots of snow here. (Well 10", anyway.) Birds have been swarming to the feeders. Now, some deer have made tentative moves toward the seed feeder area. If I strew sunflower seeds on the snow. might the deer eat thethe seeds?
If you want to feed the deer, why not buy some hay cubes from your local feed store? It’s neater than straight hay and much less expensive than the amount of sunflower seeds to fill a deer’s belly.

Good point.
But here I was, snowed in and there were the deer in the yard looking hungry. I don’t doubt for a minute that hay cubes are much better. Maybe I will buy some.
Thank you very much for your suggestion, StGermain.
A warning about feeding deer. It will start with a few. Everyday there will be one or two more. Soon you have 20 or 30 fighting over what you put out. They will start eating other plants in your’s and your neighbor’s yards. The bucks will fight with each other. Your yard will become trampled, deer hooves can cause lots of damage. And if you don’t feed them enough or forget, they have a very good sense of smell and will try to get to where you are storing the hay. They will beat the crap out of your garage or shed door. And the reflection of the deer in your car window? That buck will want to fight and your car will pay. My suggestion, do not feed the deer. My brother learned the hard way about 5 years ago.
