I rarely watch Will & Grace but I did last night. Will meets the man of his dreams, James (Taye Diggs) and they kiss in the final scene. Out of curiosity, is this the first time Will has romantically kissed another guy on the show?
Also, what happened to the cop he was dating last time I watched the show?
(I know Will kissed Jack on The Today Show episode but it was out of anger rather than attraction.)
The first kiss for Will that I remember (other than kissing Jack in protest) was at the same time that Grace was dating Nathan. Will was dating someone several years younger and he was feeling odd about it. He kissed his younger beau good-bye as the beau was boarding the elevator. Not lingering and involved, but exactly the sort of casual affection that characters who’d been dating for a little while would show.
I wonder if this is the first gay interracial TV on network TV. I know that Queer as Folk, Six Feet Under and probably others have had interracial gay kisses but I can’t think of a regular series that has.
If it is then I think they should have an episode in which Will and James discuss the reaction to being seen kissing in public and how interracial dating still can raise eyebrows. Then when Will goes to meet James’s parents they should be played by William Shatner and Nichelle Nichols
I just thought of a (crappy) final episode (it may have to be a two parter)
James’ friend Claire (played by someone pretty, but not overly hot - I’m thinking Laura Pepon, but older by about 10 years) comes to see him, stating that the guy she met turned out to be a loser, so she’s here to honor their arrangement. Only he’s already married to Grace now. Grace and Claire meet. They bond. In their bonding they both come to realize there’s a very good reason why none of their romantic relationships have ever truly worked out…
y’all see where I’m going with this? I told you it was a crappy idea - which is probably why they will do something like it.
