Will Hillary Clinton Run for President Again?

Horrible idea. If her intent is to guarantee Trump a second term, she should run.
Otherwise, NO.

Furthermore, I see no need for anymore Bushes running either. And anyone who thinks Chelsea of Michelle running would be a good idea needs their head examined, IMHO. If we want dynasties we should establish a monarchy for crying out loud.

I’m going to guess no, but after the last election, I am done making predictions. Last October/November I was certain she would be our next President. I mean, she was running against Donald Friggin Trump. Who could botch a prediction like that?? So I’m through with predictions. It’s a mad, mad world.

Enormously devout. Totally full-on Methodist, a Sunday School teacher intensive enough to please Raikes’ own heart, even married in the Methodist creed despite Bill being a godless Baptist with less overt devotion to our Lord and Saviour, and Chelsea raised a Methodist. She has willingly attended many churches services of other denominations for fun and was in the Senate Prayer Group during Bill’s presidency and whilst senator after.
Like Obama she is a totally committed Christian. More than he perhaps, she and God are partners.

The triumph of the Presbyterian Donald signifies another Calvinist victory over the Arminian Methodry. Of course, he would say he was pre-elected.

I knew her background, just wasn’t sure that it wasn’t more for political advantage than actual devotion. I’m more certain of the reverse now, though. (Of course, devoutness can have its own negatives.)

So, after that eminently fence-sitting reply and, as is probably obvious by now…nothing is simple to me.

I have absolutely no doubt than that she’s closer to God than Trump, but then a dust mop is closer to God than trump. Nice pun, btw.

Ooh, sarcasm!

Of course a politician’s religious sincerity is a) usually unknowable to outsiders and b) not, IMO, a very important metric by which we voters should judge them. (When evaluating politicians in the US at the moment, “what party do they identify with?” is a much more important criterion.)

Nevertheless: Fred Clark, leftish evangelical Xian blogger, posted this story about Hillary Clinton going to church in the snow, told to him by a friend years ago. I find it entirely plausible. http://www.patheos.com/blogs/slacktivist/2016/01/24/walking-distance-to-church/

No, not sarcasm. I believe she is a fully believing Christian who follows the Bible devoutly and accepts the Christ’s Sacrifice as full and final payment for her sins.
I also believe she is too stupid to be a hypocrite.

If she’s considering it, I will say this as a feminist, a Trump loather, and someone who voted for her for president, “Lock her up!!! Lock her up!!!”

I don’t think she’ll run again. And I say that as someone who would be delighted by the prospect, and was glad she lost in 2016.

That would be a strange strategy. Trump may be the most unpopular candidate the GOP could possibly field in 2020. Hillary’s chances of beating Trump would be *better *than her chances against any other Republican.

I like the way you think.

Ditto  But we can dream, can’t we?

My prediction, and I’m not happy about any of it:

She will run again. The party will rally behind her, oblivious to America’s disgust. At least three Dopers who have already posted in this thread will insist that she’s America’s best hope.

She will win the primary, after her camp try to destroy all opposition left in the Democratic Party. And she’ll go down in flames again.

In 2024, the Democratic Party, down to what, 90 House seats, will be a joke. Various disorganized groups will repeatedly try to take over the brand and be rebuffed by the “real Democrats” (including the three Clintonistas from this very thread). These real Democrats will alienate progressives, a few even insisting that we should be brained with shovels, like Glenn Beck c. 2000. No effective opposition to long-term GOP rule will appear. Hillary will be the nominee again, and lose again.

Slowly, the movement conservatives will take over every US state, destroying all labor and environmental laws. No one can oppose them. In the end, naked kleptocracy with rigged elections will be the order everywhere, and Americans will no longer imagine anything different is possible.

In 2028, the Democratic Partys will be down to 40 seats in the House. Hillary will get wheeled out again. At this point it’ll be all the party is expected to do. She’ll be basically like Lyndon LaRouche, and the party basically her fan club.

I doubt it. Regardless of what her desires are, I think she’s politically astute enough to know she won’t get the nomination. And I feel she would stay out of it rather than try and fail.

If Clinton is so overwhelmingly unpopular, even among Democrats, how is she going to win the primaries?

I don’t think she will. I don’t think she should.

However, this conflicts with my basic sense of justice because she got SCREWED by fake news and 30 years of Republican lies. I thought she would make an excellent president and still do, but that’s removed from the political aspect of it. I think that her running again would be a horrible idea, but at the same time, I think she deserves justice for the 30-year lying, evil smear the GOP has been running on her.

While I agree with the part of the above quote that I bolded, I think you have ignored several things. First, I have never been able to stand the sense of entitlement to being the nominee in 2008 or 2016 exhibited by HRC or her most fervent supporters. Tho I voted for her in the general, I’ve always thought that attitude was a big part of her failure both times. Secondly, she ran a crappy campaign against an opponent who should have been easy to defeat. The Clinton campaign completely took for granted the support of working class voters in states like WI, MI and PA which is why they lost. Third, the way people like Perez have been put in charge of the party because they are her cronies is creating a rift that she and Bill are ignoring because they really aren’t in favor of the progressive/left agenda. They are and have always been center/right of center Democrats. That is not the way the wind is currently blowing and if the party follows the D’s will continue down the road of irrelevance.

Yeah, she’s been smeared and slandered for years. That sucks. But it’s done and over. Time for her and everyone else to move on. The Clinton wing of the party is not the future, it’s the past.

Remember, her campaign seriously thought “It’s her turn” would be a good slogan. And people here actually want someone that arrogant and entitled to run again? Clinton Staffers Toyed With 'Because Its Her Turn' for Campaign - Business Insider

You must really be a big fan of Republicans. Pipe dream city.

And if you’re calling me a ‘Clintonista,’ my view won’t change, though I agree with other posters that she’s been jobbed by the right.

So make that two.

If there is a way to lose an election, Hillary will find it.
In 2020, she’ll wim the popular vote and get the most votes in the Electoral College. Election goes to the House and she loses.

And that’s just the way “the right” operates, so get used to it. Complaining about it accomplishes nothing. It needs to be considered a background aspect of every campaign going forward, and the Democrats need to figure out a strategy to deal with it. Because it ain’t going away, and whining about it doesn’t score you points with people who aren’t already on your side.

I think there is a next to zero percent chance that Hillary isn’t going to run again, but if it were possible to prove it, I’d bet that the gears are turning in her head trying to figure out “what if…” even if she consciously knows it’s over.
