Will Howard Stern ever stop playing that "Poontang" song???

I’ll admit it was kinda funny when I first heard it:

But after a few hundred listens on a daily basis, it gets kinda old!

:o

That kind of stuff is exactly why I never listen to Stern. He was sort of funny for, like, 5 minutes once ten years ago, but has no idea what entertainment is.

I hear you. Howard Stern was funny at first, in small doses-but he gets old really fast.

And btw, am I the only who utterly loathes the word, “poontang”?

Yeah, I gotta admit that ever since he got divorced and Jackie left, the show is sucking major ass.

I must listen at different times. I heard the poontang song today for the first time, and I DID think it was funny. I can see how after a dozen or so times it would get sort of old.

I now take Stern in small doses - my commute is only 20 minutes, and usually 10 of that is taken up by commercials. Even so, I really only enjoy the celebrity interviews. The goofy stuff with strippers and such is so boring.

But I have to admit, I really like Artie Lang. I didn’t think Jackie was very funny, and Artie adds more to the show. I don’t know about his writing ability, so maybe Jackie contributed more in that area.

I do wish Fred would talk more. He’s the funniest one on the show.

I only listen in small doses too. The song makes me shake my head and roll my eyes, but with a smile on my face.

I agree completely.

“I Want to Shoot You in the Ass With a BB Gun” is a far superior tune.

Yeah, Jackie was definitely more behind the scenes writing jokes. He made Howard so funny! Howard is decidedly less funny without Jackie.

Artie’s hillbilly and Italian schtick gets kinda old.

He’s playing it so much because Roger Alan Wade is coming on the show soon.

He does overplay a lot of things but they never really last long --with the exception of HEY NOW and maybe one or two others.

I stopped starting Howard threads a long time ago. So few people around here can appreciate genius comedy.

He was actually on today.

It just seems like he’s been playing it a lot. The thing about Howard’s show is, it’s designed for people who listen in smallish doses. That’s how many people listen to the radio. So, if you’re hearing the song too much, you’re probably listening longer than the average listener. Anyway, not loving the Poontang song myself, but, before you know it, he’ll be on to something else. I really did enjoy when Robin sang along to it on the drinking show though.

As far as Jackie vs. Artie goes, I’ve been listening since before Jackie was a regular. I used to listen when he was on WNBC which was 1985 or before. I MUCH prefer Artie! Jackie wasn’t funny. The goofing on Jackie was funny and maybe he wrote those jokes, I don’t know, but his performance was not amusing to me.

I always thought that Jackie was medium-funny, but as a butt of jokes, he was absolutely priceless. Now that he and Billy West are gone, The two best elements of the show are missing, and it’s a pale imitation. I enjoy the show, to a point, but I very seldom laugh like I did when Billy did the Jackie Puppet, or Marge Schott, or when they busted on Jackie’s houses…

hrh

God, that show is annoying. I don’t listen enough to know who everyone is, but whoever is doing the “sound bites” has a major O.C.D. problem. YOU DON’T HAVE TO HIT THE BUTTON FIVE TIMES. We heard it the first time. After that, it stops being funny (if it was even funny the first time). I would say it’s debatable whether adding farting noises to the show is an improvement, but I’m absolutely certain that farting noises for 2 minutes straight is not humorous.

The only thing worse than Howard Stern is ALL THE OTHER SHOWS on the radio.

My favorite part of the show is the news. Stern gloating about how he invented shock radio is a major turnoff. So are the twenty minute breaks. Artie is unfunny. And Howard: Your movie is what, 5 years old at least. Quit the I’m-a-movie-star shtick already. Bring back Jackie. And yes, the Poon-tang Song is getting old. However, the show is still the funniest thing going on radio today. The copycat programming that follows Stern here on our local hick station makes me appreciate how good Stern really still is.

Damnit. I was running around like an idiot all morning trying to get myself ready for a job interview and I totally missed it.
