I loooove the Mach 3 Razor. MAXIM was so right. I am so enamored that I have shaved off every bit of body hair from myself, my pets, and several neighbors while they slept. I now have 20 shaved ferrets and my neighbors all look like that guy close to the end of THE WALL. anyone else feel as strongly about this Godlike razor of the…uhm…Gods?
Yes! I love this razor. I started using it when I ran out of blades and borrowed my boyfriend’s razor. I haven’t looked back since. Such a great shave…and I do shave everything.
Mach 3’s are great, how else could I keep so beardless.
here here for the mach 3!
However the mach3 turbo is marginally better.
here here!
Glad to see I am not the only one forking over the extra cash for smoothness beyond compare. Now if only those pesky eyebrows would grow back…
The Mach 3 doesn’t do it for me. I still use the regular Gilette Sensor (NOT the Sensor Excel, which is an abomination). Best damn razor they ever made. The Mach 3 is too clumsy, too big. The action is smooth, but it doesn’t provide as close a shave as the Sensor does.
The sensor did not float my boat, but it was a nice enough ride.
I hesitated buying a Mach 3 razor. The blades are hideously expensive, and some of you may remember the old SNL fake commercials for the Triple Trac razor: because you’ll buy anything.
Not only do the Mach 3 blades give me an extraordinarily close, comfortable shave- but the blades just don’t seem to get dull. The old Atra blades would give me maybe 10 good shaves. The Mach 3 blades last the better part of a month. I would venture to guess I have gotten at least 25 shaves from each of the first 3 blades I have used. And as I think about, I have not nicked that one spot on my right cheek that I used to be so careful with.
I think Gillette may be losing money with the Mach 3, the blades are twice as expensive, but would appear to give 2.5 times as many shaves.
Big and clumsy? I must disagree Colfire the razor is as light as a feather.
It’s light, but the three blades make it broader than the Sensor, making sideburns and the moustache area more difficult to shave, IMHO. I do agree on the fact that they stay sharper longer than the Sensor: I change my Sensor blade once a week, and could do 2 weeks on a Mach 3 unit.
People! You’re missing the greatest advantage to the Mach 3 – THE BLADES DON’T GET CLOGGED WITH HAIR!!!
For YEARS, I used the Bic TwinTrac blades, and, due to my a) thick beard and b) cavalier attitude towards shaving, them bad boys would get clogged. Not the Mach 3!
Plus, the balance of the handle is really nice.
Chica checking in here. I love the Mach 3’s girly counterpart, Venus. I have less incentive to shave than other girls, since I am a) a lesbian; b) destined to never wear a bikini in public; and c) required to wear long pants for work.
And yet, I am trimmed all over like a freshly scuplted topiary.
Thank you, Gillette!
I shave um… everything too. Do you use this to shave your… everything? If so, how close a shave do you get?
speaking of shaving everything, how do girls feel about guys who shave down there?
I remember when I first started shaving, and I was using those putrid yellow Bic disposables.
Then I discovered that glorious Mach 3. I swear somedays, I just tell it to shave me and it does. Then it brings me a cup of coffee.
I’ve named it “Calypso.”
Happy
The Mach 3 is pretty nice. I got one free in the mail and got hooked. I also got a Schick’s answer to the Mach 3, the “Xtreme”, free in the mail. It didn’t perform nearly as well. The razor durability and lack of hair-clogging are the big selling points for me.
I think that warrants it’s own thread, teemingONE.
Oh yeah, I am so there. Another one here who has been upgrading as the skin scraping science develops. I used the Atra Twin for a long time and loved it. It was pure shaving sweetness. It was.
But then there was the Mach 3. It’s not sweetness, its shaverific. I asked myself, “Can it get any better than this, what with the enhanced lubri-smooth strip and microfins?” Nothing slicks up the cheeks like that lubri-smooth strip. I haven’t tried the Turbo yet, but I will. The teflon coated blades are supposed to pull less even when you shave against the grain, which I always do. It gives my face that softness you can see.
I almost shaved my chest once, but chickened out, fearing the itch and thinking it might grow back thicker (Is that just just a myth anyway or is there truth to that?). I don’t think I really want it thicker. It’s fine the way it is.
And while we’re all shaving together Prisoner 24601, there’s so many other questions we could ask; where do you shave? No no no I mean what location do you shave? Bathroom sink? Kitchen sink? Laundry tub? Shower? In a separate basin? What cream/soap do you use? Do you lather with a badger bristle? (try it sometime)
You?
ME: In the shower, I do not use shaving cream, gel or the like either. I use Paul Mitchel’s, “The Detangler” Cream rinse as my shaving cream… and it works unbelievably well. I get an incredibly smooth shave, and my whiskies never get tangled. Amazing.
One more thing. I have this theory about blade life that is just dying to be either confirmed or refuted: Blade life is proportional to the hardness of the water being used. So, the harder the water, the shorter the blade life. Anyone else know anything about this?
Ok, ladies, I’m afraid we’re going to need before and after pics to determine if the Venus/Mach 3 is as good as you all say it is.
What? I had to try…
I use the Mach 3 to shave my head as well as my face, and I’ve yet to find anything better. My only gripe is that it is too wide to realy get at those fiddly bits on my goatee. I usually shave at the bathroom sink in the mornings before work, and shave my head about once every two weeks.
I STILL can’t be in the same room with one of those things without a bloody massacre taking place. I had a job interview last year in another state and I forgot my razor and had to use one of those. I went in looking like I barely escaped the business end of a large tiger.
As far as the Mach 3 Vs. The Tracer, well, I was always very loyal to the Tracer but since I’ve gotten the Mach 3 I haven’t looked back. I would have to try the Tracer one more time for a final judgement though…it was a damn good razor.
Why only three blades? Hmm?
I am dissatisfied; until they make one with at least 25 blades, I will continue to sport an enormous bushy beard.
