How many blades will Gillette razors have in 10 years?

More blades = better shave. Ok.

Lasers, it’ll be all about lasers…

I have a Mach 3, but don’t like it very much. The Sensor XL gives me a much closer shave and feels more comfortable. The idea that more blades is better seems like marketing hype. Look at electric razors: they have tons of blades and they suck.

UnuMondo

I predict the next market wars will be over “wider”. They are all the same width now.

Beyond that, I can’t think of any changes. Maybe the whole “pyramid storage = sharper” fad from the 80’s will come back.

That reminds me of one of my recurring imaginations for a future device…

A door-frame shaped device which is programmed to know exactly what should be in a human body and what shouldn’t (dirt, disease, or even unwanted fat). You walk through it, and all the unwanted molecules get zapped out of existence.

Why are you looking at me that way?

I got a free Mach 3(?) in the mail and it cut the shit out of my face. It came in whatever tamper-proof packaging it’s supposed to, btw.

Anyway, I shave in the shower with no mirror and normally using shampoo or regular soap on occasion. My regular razor works very well.

After my first experience with this particular instrument I discovered that my chest was awash with blood. Seriously. The fact that I don’t shave my chest concerned me greatly! There was so much blood running down from my chin that it colored my chest. Nasty!

I will never buy anything with more than two blades from now on, or maybe I’ll move to straight razors!

My WAG would be a different shaped edge of the blade

I was skeptical about the Mach 3 razor blades, I can remember the old SNL skits about the TripleTrac. But in this case, the hype is on target

Shaving with a Mach 3 blade is awesome: ultra smooth with no nicks. The blades are more expensive, but they last a lot longer than the Atra blades.

Got to agree with 5TC. I’ve had my Mach III for a couple of years now, and I love it! So far I haven’t cut myself once.

But who have you cut, Astroboy? :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, I used to swear by my Sensor XL, but then I got a free Mach 3 in the mail. I didn’t like it too much the first time I used it, but the second time it was really, really good. I tried going back to my Sensor, but I couldn’t. It irritated my skin a lot more.

So now I stick with my Mach 3.

The Mach 3 seems smoother, but it’s harder to navigate around the facial hair I want to keep than a Sensor, because of the wider frame. It doesn’t seem to give a noticeably smoother result, and even if it did, it would grow out to the same height in a matter of hours.

The new Schick 4-blader has to be a joke, but it may be an attempt to get around the Gillette patents on 3 bladers. I know they’re in court over it.

I thought the 4-bladed one was a Gillette, that’s why I posted this thread.

Is it not a gilette?
I use an electric razor which is OK except for the hair on the throat/neck, BASTARD hair.
stupid beards.

almost all my rasors I got in the mail for free. I just got a mach 3 turbo, still in the package. I still have alot of refills on my old sensor XL I got in the mail and somewhat afraid to try it after Neurotic’s post (I don’t want to abandon those blades).

Yeah, I would use up your XL cartridges until the last one then keep one handy in case you don’t like the Mach 3 after a few tries, kanicbird.

I did find that was true, Elvis, regarding the facial hair. I had more control with the XL, but I went clean shaven shortly after I started with the Mach 3 (unrelated reason - just got tired of it) so it wasn’t much of an issue. And while I don’t find it gives a closer shave, I do find that the Mach 3 irritates my neck a whole lot less. I don’t think it has to do with three blads but the way the swivel is mounted. The XL has it mounted roughly in the vertical center while the Mach 3 is mounted at the base and it seems to be gentler while giving just as close a shave.

Oh yeah, if you let your facial hair grow out too long then the Mach 3 will chew your face up which is a problem I never had with the XL.

I use a straight razor, It’s far closer than any of the throw away ones, but now that i’m growing a beard…eh…

The Gillette Mach 3 is the best blade in the world for shaving my head. It glides. I tried the Schick XTreme 3. It sucked. Very uncomfortable on my scalp.
The new Schick 4 blader, which I’m trying now, is better, but still not as good as the Mach 3 Turbo, which I’ll probably go back to after I wear out the second blade on the 4-blader.

In 10 years? Hmmm…

The Gillete Mach 10!

The first blade calls the whisker out!
The second blade insults its family!
The third blade slaps it around for a while!
The fourth blade kicks it in the nads!
The fifth blade holds it down!
The sixth blade lops off the top of the whisker!
The seventh blade lops off the bottom of the whisker!
The eight blade cuts out the root of the whisker!
The ninth blade pisses on the empth follicle!
The tenth blade DARES it to grow back!
