Will SD ever add a "Like" Button?

Jinx, instead of asking this question again next year, please just remember the answers you’ve gotten all the other times. In case you’ve already forgotten, the answer is “NO.”

Like.

I want an “I see what you did there” button.

Maybe we could give green stamps. Though I like your idea of electric shocks. Ignorance should be painful.

Will you take us to Mount Splashmore?

If I say yes will you stop screaming that?

I am reminded of when the facebook button was added and gloomy histrionic jeremiahs predicted the end of all that was good and holy. Obviously, we’re still standing.

It helps that no one actually uses it.

I can’t seem to find any ATMB threads containing this Facebook turmoil you speak of. Cite, please?

We’ve added share buttons.

Thanks-I was searching under “Facebook”.

Hey, me too! The trick was scrolling down.

Oh, I’ve seen it used in the past. Not by me, but others have certainly used it. It’s easy to miss just at the bottom of the thread as opposed to on every post but I expect were a thumbs application to be added, it would quickly become ignored by everyone who didn’t care, especially if downvoting could not hide a post.

My mistake was searching under “titles only”.

Don’t sweat it, I’m always happy to help out a newbie.

It stands to reason it will probably happen eventually. One of the following has to happen:

[ol]
[li]Huge changes in laws of biology/physics[/li][li]Global disaster[/li][li]Everyone at SDMB currently plus whoever joins in future dying, resulting in no more SDMB[/li][li]SDMB closed down for some reason[/li][li]SDMB becomming a subreddit[/li][li]SDMB adopting like buttons and similar modifications because new users expect such things[/li][/ol]

Maybe he should ask every five years.

Edit: It strikes me that I have tried to make a simple point in an overly complicated way and just been confusing. What I am trying to say is that management of *anything *cannot deny progress and changing tastes forever. The only exception is if all current SDMB posters are immortal.

:frownie face:

Given that he never returned to either of the previous threads (just as he hasn’t returned to this one), it’s possible he’s never read any of the answers rather than that he forgot them.

Maybe vBulletin has a “staple to the OP’s forehead” option.

No.
