Will Susanna Clarke publish another novel?

She spent ten years writing Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. The result was a great book that I’m sure will remain a classic. I haven’t read her short story collection but it doesn’t seem to have gotten the acclaim that her novel did.

Has Clarke set the bar for herself too high now? It’s hard to believe that she will be able to write another novel that will live up to the expectations raised by her first one.

Will she become another Ralph Ellison or Harper Lee or Margaret Mitchell, who were apparently overwhelmed by the success of their first novels?

The Ladies of grace Adieu was pretty good, but it seemed to me like the stories were written before the novel. A couple had a desk drawer feel to them, nowhere near as polished as Jonathan Strange.

Per her website interview she’s working on another book, which isn’t necessasrily a sequel:

I can’t seem to find any new information about the movie. Soemthing about a studio losing the rights or somesuch.
