Will the kid who plays Harry Potter end up like McCauley Culkin?

i.e. End up a member of Michael Jackson’s boy harem when Hollywood spits him out after the “cute” wears off?

Plays? You mean as in “acting”?
Hell yes. He can’t act. He has two expressions. When the franchise is done with (if not before) he’ll be outta there.

Don’t know if Wacko Jacko will take him in, though.

I read this weekend that Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry Potter, isn’t sure whether he’ll continue in the role beyond the third film (which he’s already signed on to do). Which doesn’t surprise me, since he’d be doing these 7 movies for so long, he’d be type cast irreparably.

AFAIK, I don’t believe he’s commented yet on any buggery plans for beyond that.

One of the main reasons Culkin faded away was not because he lost his “cute” factor, but because of his father, Kit. His father was known as the biggest jackass and people in Hollywood didn’t want to deal with him. Also, Macauley was doing three movies a year and burned out. His brothers are succeeding, though.

From what I’ve read, Daniel Radcliff’s parents are decent and he’s playing Potter on his own free will.

He’ll end up on a sitcom, with the role of his father played by Scott Baio, and Ben “Dude, you’re gettin’ a Dell” Curtis as his wisecracking older brother.

I thought Michael prefered blondes?

I don’t know about Harry, but the girl playing Hermione is going to be fecking HAWT when she grows up.

sulking back into the bushes outside the school

Daniel Radcliffe did an excellent job playing David Copperfield. He’s got the chops–I hope he makes it.

With Regards to Culkin, he supposedly willfully stopped acting despite his ability to continue doing so. Its not that he couldn’t get parts, but that he didn’t want them or was “burned out” as someone else mentioned.

He also got married at 17 and still is, if I recall correctly.

Not to Hijack, but the kid to watch whether or not he’ll get spit out onto the street when the “cute” wears off is Haley Joel Osment, the kid’s got talent but I don’t see him growing up to be particularly handsome or screen-friendly hollywood style.

MacCauley Culkin certainly got ugly when the full ravages of puberty took a hold on him. Same with those three kids in “Home Improvement” etc etc.

Only cutey I can think of that is STILL cute is Kirsten Dunst, who was adorable in Interview and is still somewhat attractive.

I think I read that Culkin divorced a couple of years after his marriage. He’s got a couple of movies due out next year. I do think he has the potential talent to be great, but whether he does anything with it, I don’t know.

I really hope Haley Joel Osment makes it through to be an extraordinary adult actor. He has more talent in his little finger than most of the big screen adult actors, and he seems to not be going the Kirsten Dunst route (course he’s still a bit young for that), but if I understand it correctly, getting through the teen years is tough.

Kirsten Dunst has a lot of talent, as evidenced by Interview, but she’s been doing teeny bop movies for so long now that I don’t know if she can get out of it. (FTR, I like Kirsten Dunst movies, but they are fluff).

Macaulay Culkin and Rachel Miner are divorced now.

Daniel Radcliffe really can act. His seemingly awful performance in “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” is a product of Chris Columbus’s incompetence, not Radcliffe’s.

I think Daniel Radcliffe can act as well. To my eyes, he’s not getting gawky or outgrowing cute, he’s growing more attractive. I think he’ll be a damned good looking man. He’s also expressed an interest in studyingautism at University and already offered his talent/likeness on the mindreading dvd-rom designed for people with autism to be able to recognise and distinguish facial expressions. He’s a heck of a kid and I hope he does what makes him happy.

Natalie Portman,

…and Christina Ricci.

Well, I thought Wednesday was cute.

Oh yeah, forgot about Ricci. I think she’s a great actress… I’ve got a thing for her too. Damn, what a rack.

I like Ricci…or at least I did until she turned into a stick.

That took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out.
