Will the latest Bundy clan actions bedevil the GOP candidates?

If this is allowed to continue it will encourage other fruitcakes to do the same thing.

Wildlife Refuges are closed areas that grant public access selectively. Now I expect them to shut down as a precaution.

I understand the difference legally, but I also recognize, as should you that the law isn’t worth a hill of beans and that the real consideration is how much blood and gold will have to be spent enforcing the law. The same consideration is at play here and I applaud the President for his consistency in that regard. Ending this occupation isn’t worth the lives of a single FBI agent.

You can get Bundy, but if the folks just leave the government won’t even know who else was in there. There’s no agents to receive them when they come out. They’ll have to go through media archives and see if they can identify anyone. A lot of work for what amounts to trespassing. And again I’d hope for consistency in the future. If Occupy decides to occupy public space and not move until forcibly removed, they should all face charges, rather than the arrest and release that occurs for the vast majority now.

I think the govt should simply put up a high barb-wire fence around the building, build a new administration building adjacent to the property, and call it a day.

They want to occupy a federal building for years? Fine by us. Probably cheaper than federal prison cells anyway.

They’re all posting on Facebook asking for Pop-Tarts. It’s not going to be very hard to find them.

But will they be able to tell the mayonnaise people from the miracle whip guys. They’ll probably have to get one of them to flip to get the whole story.

Chances are there are already federal if not local informants among them anyway. According to some estimates one third of militia members are paid FBI informants.

This is the biggest hoot on the right I have seen in a banner blockbuster year. I would be livid if they were speaking for me. The idea of asking for equal treatment for them vis a vis occupy protesters would be the last thing on my mind, let alone the illogic of it.

But as it is it is something that needed to happen. The pathology, craven ignorance, and hypocrisy of this movement is here highlighted stunningly. At the top it’s lying, book flogging, wannabe speaker circuit clowns and lobbyists, needing to suck up as much wealth as possible before the apocalypse, (Which they will make happen because of seas rising, which they claim is a left wing invented thing…).

At the bottom it’s these anti-government welfare recipients who launched a coup and forgot the French vanilla Creamer.

Since they didn’t ask and since I love this whole thing so much I’m going to spell out what they were perhaps too embarrassed to ask for so their fans might send that too: Toilet paper, condoms, fresh meat, a DVD player, hold the Criterion collection, maybe some buffy would be good.

That’s pretty cleaver.

Put up the big fence, kill the power, comm, & water to the existing building, jam any radio comms. Then just wait. If they’ve laid in 2 weeks of supplies they’ll be out in 3 weeks. If they’ve laid in 2 years of supplies they’ll be out in 2 years and one week. They choose the length of their own sentence. Brilliant!

Knock it off or take it to The BBQ Pit.

And now they’re convening a “grand jury” under a self-appointed judge to indict officials with crimes.

Luckily, usually such ersatz juries do not usually attempt to “arrest” officials, but there is the small chance this would be the unusual one that does, which would turn a relatively low harm situation into a nasty hostage situation.

IANA lawyer, but IMO forming the trappings of a substitute government amount to acts of treason against the real government.

You so often hear the words “law-abiding” attached to the words “gun owner” as an almost pro forma prefix. Whatever sort of gun owners these guys are, law-abiding is one thing they surely aren’t.

IMO they’ve got a *de facto *suicide pact going and this won’t end quietly. They’ll keep upping the ante until something boils over. All the while spouting Freeman on the Land or similar nonsense that somehow the Feds caused the whole stand-off thing and it’s inevitable denouement.

Well, the Constitution, Article III, Section 3, says, “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort.” It’s the only crime defined in the Constitution – I suspect the FFs decided to define it, and to define it narrowly, because treason charges and bills of attainder had been used in Britain as weapons against the political opponents of the party in power.
