It would be pretty funny if Trump left a message that just said “covfefe”.
Of course, since Trump doesn’t have a sense of humor it’ll never happen.

Trump will hold a rally at same time and tweet about his bigger crowd. (whether or not it’s true is irrelevant)
Though I voted that he won’t (I mean not a surprise), I have this vision in my head where he goes, and then tweets about how all the audience were chanting for Trump to be the kingpresident, not that Pence guy, the worst candidate ever. “They were there for ME!”
If there is a large audience or crowd at the inauguration, it will all be pandemic-denying, maskless Trump supporters.
I was envisioning it being a perfectly normal inauguration, with Biden being perfectly graceful and charming, and Trump just kinda sulking off in the corner with that squinchy surly face he favours, arms folded over his chest.
But considered your way, with a mob of Trump hounds trying to overrun the proceedings and baying Trump’s name, that puts a bit of a damper on my mood. Worse, it isn’t an unreasonable scenario. (Is an exceptionally large group of dogs where “pack” is too small a mob?)
Trump will attend, and leave immediately afterward. He will NOT attend any future inaugurations. He will spend the rest of his years golfing and raging on TrumpTV, until TrumpTV goes bankrupt (apx. 6 mos.)
Pence will be there acting reasonably, because he thinks that he can make a run at the Presidency in 2024.
I expect that he will crow about how his crowd was bigger. Never mind that Biden will deliberately keep the crowd size down (or have no crowd at all) to prevent COVID spread.
Which should result in much, much, much higher TV ratings.
This creates an opportunity. With Biden (probably) not having a huge gathering, Trump can have a concurrent, “real” inauguration that he invites all his supporters to.
So there will be two inaugurations on Inauguration Day. One of them (Biden’s) will involve the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court swearing in the President. The real President for the coming term. Biden.
President Trump is considering a made-for-TV grand finale: a White House departure on Marine One and final Air Force One flight to Florida for a political rally opposite Joe Biden’s inauguration, sources familiar with the discussions tell Axios.
Admittedly, I got the state wrong.
Nope…State of denial pretty much sums it up,
I’ve been saying for weeks that Trump will go down to Mar-a-Lago for the Christmas holiday, and then not come back to DC. He will functionally abandon whatever meager elements of the Presidency he still deigns to observe, in favor of continuing to grind his axe and salt the earth behind him. After the inauguration, he will maintain some sort of weird Deposed-President-in-Exile status.
This is because he is (a) an asshole, but also (b) a coward. He is unable to grapple with the reality of his loss, or look into the face of the man who beat him. If he is in DC on January 20, in his mind, he will be getting “evicted” from his rightful throne, er, office. Much easier to run away before then, and keep up the charade at a distance.
Nothing that has happened in the weeks since I came to this conclusion has changed my mind.
I can easily see Trump trying to steal ratings from Biden but I expect most of the news services will feature the President coming in rather than the President going out. Fox News might try to cut between both while OAN and NewsMax will probably favor Trump so he’ll still get some of his ratings from his fans.
Once Trump is no longer President his value as “news worthy” dwindles dramatically.
I’m already seeing much more coverage of the president-elect’s actions and statements than I am of Trump’s, although that’s partly because Trump has done and said little since the election.
And woman. The man and woman who beat him. A salient point.
Ooo, yes. Indeed.
Here is a CNN article on the same possibility. “Trump could return to Washington for the final days on his term. But there have also been some discussions about the President and the first lady remaining in Florida and not coming back to the White House, a White House official said.”
Trump will sit in the balcony and throw Milk Duds ™ at Biden.
Before or after he’s taken a bite out of them?
I could see that. Some sort of counter-programing.
But I suppose we will see in six or so weeks.
