Is it one of those sanctimonious little seals that were going around Facebook announcing how you wouldn’t be shopping on Thursday because retail workers deserve a holiday too? Most of the people I saw posting that totally make other people work on holidays–they travel, board their pets, and sometimes stay in hotels. Also, slacktivism.
Hell no. I don’t care how good the deals are, I don’t like the crowds. 90%+ of my shopping will be online.
Jesus wants me to have a new crock pot.
Never have and never will, and I won’t let my family do it either (not that they want to). It’s dangerous and gross.
Maybe Cyber Monday, but my online stores will be keeping me busy and bringing in a lot of money that day. So I might wait until after then.
If I was in the States? Not just no but H*LL NO. I’d be making a point of participating in Buy Nothing Day instead. The whole thing turns me off, not just the crowds but the materialism and the things retail employees, many earning minimum wage, are expected to put up with
Since I am not in the US, I can say that I will be buying nothing but, maybe, some groceries, as I will be hosting our annual expat-Thanksgiving feast the next day.
Oh, I should have mentioned that I will probably try to participate in our local Small Business Saturday this year on the 30th. We don’t buy a lot of presents for Christmas, but there will be somethings I will need to get and that’s where I will be shopping. We went last year and a lot of the shops had cookies and cider or coffee available. It was a little crowded, but not at all horrible. Really pleasant, actually.
