I think you all are giving him too much credit. Biden was confirmed, Barr knows he’s getting fired and instead of giving Biden the pleasure he’s just quitting. Trump is no longer of any value to him so he’s out.
If there was any plausible way for Barr to fraudulently contravene the will of the people, he wouldn’t hesitate. He’d have no problem being Dictator Trump’s personal Goebbels, he did not leave on some principled stand. Gimme a break, have you been paying any attention to him?
I suspect the following days will see a lot of departures. Today’s EC vote marks the point where the number of people in power that think Trump has any chance whatsoever of holding on to the White House is pretty much 1.
I can’t stand the prick but I have to appreciate that he did not announce the investigation into Hunter Biden. I can’t blame him for leaving but why bother quitting a month before the inauguration.
It’s not a coincidence that it happened the same day Biden was nominated. In Barr’s view, this is the official end of the road for all the legal shenanigans. He was waiting for it to become official before he walked.
Trump’s on the golf course anyways, it’s not like he’s in Barr’s ear about anything.
10 quatloos says by June, Barr will be in front of Congress explaining how he was secretly holding back Trump, and that really, he should be thanked for helping demonstrate the danger inherent to a powerful centralized government and unchecked executive authority.
Um, the time for the state legislatures to be heard was when they chose their electors. You know the ones that just voted today? The ones whose votes exactly matched the will of the voters of their respective states? The electors who just gave Joe Biden a 306 to 232 victory? those electors?
Don’t give credit to Barr for doing this. He was pushing John Durham hard in early to mid-September to release his report into all this garbage. It was Durham and his top aide, Nora Dannehy, who refused to go along with the scheme.
With Nora Dannehy having left the DOJ entirely, she effectively stopped Barr from moving forward with the investigation. By quitting, she put herself out of the reach of Barr’s influence and was (is!) free to testify to whomever may subpoena her about Barr’s pressure campaign to release this totted-up investigate-the-investigators/Hunter Biden nonsense.
I noticed Barr went quiet right after all this happened, and Trump started disparaging Barr. I felt he was going to leave since then to save his own skin best he can. No hero he.
That’s something you can find on Facebook from a variety of sources. Google “Ok, so many are upset, confused and giving up regarding SCOTUS today. My brilliant friend Stephon Rudd strikes again. Below he explains so eloquently” and all sorts of places pop up.
Not clear if Mdm.President believes it, or was responding to the statement that only one person thinks Trump can win.
Pascrell and others may well continue to call for Barr to be sanctioned. But this resignation has already changed public opinion in Barr’s favor.
See, for example, the posts expressing grudging admiration for Barr (for not having publicly announced a Hunter Biden investigation). See, too, Aspenglow’s superb counter. But the fact remains that many on the left are now saying ‘okay, Barr has repudiated Trump by resigning, and he didn’t go after Hunter Biden before the election, so I guess he’s not so bad…’
Barr’s wholly cynical resignation will have the effect of defusing any efforts by Pascrell or others. They will now have trouble getting traction for their attempts to hold Barr to account.
And who the hell is Stephon Rudd and why do we care? (According to LinkedIn there is a guy by that name who is simultaneously a copywriter and CEO and president of the resoundingly obscure “Cyphon Media.”)
Well, you see… Donald Trump is a “freeborn and sovereign” person and was therefore not subject to the so called “election laws”. Also, Trump did not enter into Joinder with the Supreme Court, so they have no jurisdiction over him. Not to mention, the Court is actually a Maritime Court, and any decisions they make are null and void unless they have a maritime flag (with gold fringe) in the courtroom.
Therefore, Trump is now, and will continue to be… President.
It’s all pretty plain and obvious once you know what to look for.
