I hate to say anything even remotely in defense of the scumbag, but Barr did do what Comey did not - refuse to release details on an investigation just before the election. I had forgotten until recently that the ne emails Comey referred to in his letter turned out to be from Anthony Weiner, which came out a few days later but many voters did not see that story. And since many believe that the Comey letter was what allowed Trump to narrowly win in PA, WI, and MI, you could say that Anthony Weiner fucked Hillary Clinton. And the country for four years

I wish I could go 50 years into the future and read the history of the 2016 election. Certainly the Comey letter will be a part of it, some would argue that it made the difference, some that it did not, some that we just don’t know, which I think is the truth. I wonder how many would mention the Weiner angle. One writing a more narrative history could start a chapter about the now (in the future) obscure Weiner, texting teenage girls, eventually led to the election of Trump.
But that is a bit like saying the assination of the Archduke Ferdinand started WWI. Well, it was the first in a sequence of events, but WWI I think was going to happen eventually. Maybe Trump being elected was also inevitable.
Please note, I am not being completely serious here about The Weiner Affect, which sounds like a Ludlum novel. Or a 70s porn film.
Comey wasn’t the AG. Comey was fucking stupid to do what he did, in his role, but he ain’t a comparison to the douchebag that redacted the Mueller Report. That was Barr, the AG.

You’re right, on the douchbag scale, Comey is a 1 and Barr a plus 10. But just on the issue of relasing info about an investigation close to an election, especially when the person being investigated was not a candidate, Barr was right. Why he did not do it is hard to tell. Maybe it is like that Dylan line - “To live outside the law you must be honest.” Barr will, and did, take existing law and precedent and twist them around a dozen ways to get the result he wanted, but within that world, there are certain things he won’t do. He did not just make up evidence of Joe Biden being involved the Hunter’s activities, and he didn’t make up evidence of voter fraud. He suggested that it may have happened
Oh Jeez, now it looks like I am defending Barr. He is SCUMBAG. I’m just saying that in this one case he did the right thing, or more accurately, did not do the wrong thing.
Had not thought of that. Maybe it did.
Does look like that to me: this is the day when he can’t do anything more that is (a) in his power and (b) within his risk tolerance, for Trump.
