You cynics, obviously Mr Barr just wants to spend more time with his family, as the President clearly states in the not-at-all untruthful manner to which we are accustomed, with not a wisp of smoke rising from his pants.

Undoubtedly. In particular, he refused to fabricate evidence that the election was fraudulent.
The question is who is going to be the acting AG, and how much damage can he do in a month.

I was going to say, you mean Bill Barr actually has some scruples? But I doubt he has more than one.
My assumption is that had less to do with scruples and more to do with the fact that the wall he was reading had “Trump is on his way out; better get off the sinking ship” written on it.
Barr’s job was to help Trump walk when the Mueller report was issued. He did that. I would wager a guess that with respect (you know what I mean) to Trump’s attempted democracy overthrow, Barr considered the risks/rewards and decided to walk himself, while the walking was good. A man’s gotta work somewhere next year, too, you know?

I’ve moved from “Barr is a despicable toady” to grudging recognition of his having processed an investigation of Hunter Biden without making that fact public during the election season. Let’s see… Barr is a semi-despicable mostly-toady? Hmm, needs work…
Bill will be leaving just before Christmas to spend the holidays with his family…

Yeah, and it’s also about stopping all the talk about getting Barr disbarred.
Now it’s “at least he had the sense to leave!” and all his misdeeds forgotten, if not forgiven.
This is a purely cynical move on Barr’s part. He actually plans to remain a player in GOP politics, and getting the left to forget about him is crucial.
This move will have the effect of leaving him off all those lists of ‘Trumpites who should be investigated’—so it’s easily worth the minor humiliation of being the object of speculation that Trump fired him.
