William Jefferson gets voted out of Congress!!

Happy dance time! William Jefferson, he of the $80,000 in literally cold cash in his freezer, failed to win re-election yesterday.

His district has a Cook PVI of D+28, which means it’s 28 percentage points more Democratic than the nation as a whole, so obviously a lot of my fellow Democrats either stayed home, or showed up at the polls to join Republicans in giving this loser his walking papers.

I don’t know much about Anh (Joseph) Cao, who won yesterday, other than that he’ll apparently be the first Vietnamese-American in Congress. (Louisiana’s developing quite an affinity for electing persons of South Asian extraction to high office - first Jindal, now Cao. Good for them!)

The Dems will probably win this one back in two years, given the extremely Dem tilt of the district, unless Cao proves to be a very moderate Republican. Win-win, AFAIAC. Main thing is, we won’t have one extremely corrupt Dem Congressman to kick around, anymore.

I remember that guy. Has he been charged with anything yet?

Clearly, this is a reaction to the utter failure of the Obama administration.

Yes, he was indicted last year. A trial has been held up while he was appealing the indictment, but it was recently upheld.

This just shows the extreme leftist tilt of this board. If this guy was a Democrat people like elucidator would be in here defending him. But due to librul groupthink he just piles on with the rest of the Leftards.

Its a fair cop, but the Federalist Society is to blame.

At least you’re acknowledging it’s a failure. And before inauguration, no less!

Kisses, 'luci, you know I love your commie pinko ass.

Um… what?

He is a Democrat.

Whoooooooosh!

And demonstrates that the US is a center right nation and the Republicans have a mandate…

It’s good that this corrupt guy is gone, but I’d have been happier if the Democrats had the moral decency to boot him out in the primary.

Ah.

Agreed. Same goes for Ted Stevens.

He did not get voted out. She got voted in. A recall would have not only voted him out but sent a clearer message.

Tangent:
It’s not unreasonable to have a message board about eliminating ignorance being left-leaning. After all the right’s base is primarily composed of knuckle-dragging retards.

Who’s the “she” you’re referring to?

There is no provision in the constitution for recall of members of the House of Representatives.

If Louisiana weren’t so fucked up, he would have been. 75% of the vote didn’t go to him, but there were enough candidates that he still managed to get a plurality.

And indeed, states (or the people) thereof cannot remove any federal officeholders. I b’lieve the SCOTUS has ruled on this before.

Backatchya, but now I’m gonna get some grief from the Gay Trotskyists…

Generally speaking I hate to see the Pubs pick up one more seat, but in this case, WHOOO-HOOOO! GO DISTRICT TWO LOUISIANA! And thanks for helping us clean up the Democratic Party!

Ayn Cho sounded female on the radio.
