Wimbledon 2010

Penalty shots, anyone?

When was the last break of service?

50-50! I think both guys get an extra life! And the timer on SlamTracker has crapped out!

As far as that “longest single day of play” thing goes, they can break that record even if they don’t finish the match. They stopped play at 9:09 London time yesterday. That’s another hour and ten, give or take, which would put them 30 or 40 minutes past the record.
Mahut has 15-40 on Isner’s serve… but Isner saves both break points!

May I restate my position…WTF???

In the second set. I’m not sure exactly which game it was, but they’ve played 127 games since the start of the third set now, and the second set score was 6-3 so it must be at least 128 straight games on serve.

If you want a picture of the future, imagine a racket crushing a tennis ball – forever.

I don’t think they’d ever thought this far ahead in a tennis tournament before. Come on Isner!

Isner won that set 6-3 and there was only one break, so the break must’ve happened in the eighth game (with Mahut serving down 3-4). So Isner broke to get to 5-3, and then served it out. So yes, 128 games.

The game counter on SlamTracker has reset to 1-0. They couldn’t go above 50.

Yes, you’re right, hadn’t thought it through.

I noticed that

Nice comment from the BBC online feed:

if 26-25 gets 5  's, then

52-51`

deserves 10  's

have there been any match points yet?

Let me quote Luke Wilson from Anchorman:

This is ri-god damn-diculous.

Isner had a couple about 30 games ago.

57-55 and this one set will equal the most games in any other singles match in history. They need to get to 62-60 to equal the most in any other match, period.

Amazing stuff!

It’s not proper tennis, though, is it, all this ace-bashing

This is absolutely unfreakingbelievable!!!

Less than an hour of light remaining.

I hope the authorities have consulted with doctors because this is way into the unknown.

While interesting, the winner has to play tomorrow, so that’s the end of his Wimbledon - they’ll have to have a re-think after this game abut how to resolve final sets.

I doubt they will change it, this is such an oddity.
